If you’re coming onto this thread to say that the State course was short, you’re being very ignorant. This is the same state course that these kids have run on for years. It is a true 5K. Strava, Milesplit, even UIL has confirmed this. These times are legit, even despite the mud, blazing sun, and hills.
There a few variables to why it was a fast race. For one, Texas XC is just different than anywhere else. Old settlers park is like Lavern Gibson. It reminds you of a XC venue. People train different and run differently in Texas. It’s just different. Ohio in 2017, is the only time a State has outclassed texas, possibly, in this decade.
Congrats to Shoope, Greer, Morris, and all the other finishers today. Tip of the cap to them all. Tough season for Texas XC runners but they capped it off well. Hell of a year for Texas XC!
