Was this the longest time period XC state record ever broken at the same state course in the history of the united states?

I don’t know for sure but you also gotta remember quite a few states had changed xc distance multiple times. In my state we went from 2.5 courses to 3 mile courses and settled at 5k but Illinois never changed from 3 miles to 5k
That's the point. Think about Virgin, Spivey, Graves, Jager, Verzbikas, Derrick and others and he beat them all on a the same course.
Oh I know it’s insane, one of the first things I thought was “can’t wait for someone to say Lukas would’ve beat him since he would’ve pushed hum” but I’m happy he’s getting his glory here
Did you see the IHSA video of this historic race. It was incredible, this is a half century moment for the IHSA. They really update things well on there site and make sure that people can see historic events like this live. I don't know how much they spend on the IHSA administrator salaries, but I think they should double it because they are so good.
Craig is thrilled that someone finally broke his record. He gave Josh a big hug.
The IHSA is so supportive of Cross Country that they promise on their front page to update State results sometime in the next year or so.
$15 bucks to park and the port-o-lets were out of toilet paper by noon half way through the meet! Way to go IHSA and Peoria Parks!

Every experienced coach and runner knows to bring their own toilet paper to big meets. That's your own fault for being ignorant.
Why have the port-o-lets? Just piss and sh-t on the trees and have .gov entities pocket more payola.
Virgin record still more impressive, as he had to run behind a vehicle spewing high-sulfur and leaded gasoline exhaust back in the day.

Dude, don't cry, it's embarrassing.
Like the poster above said, I had brought my own roll of TP from the hotel. It's standard practice. The IHSA, which normally sucks, out on a good show all around
I was there, watching at 800 to go; kid was insane. Hersey, Wheaton warrenville south, and st. Charles east were all beastly teams. Last place was under 17 min. Unreal how fast Illinois has gotten.

What did he do for a partial 2 miles?
While saying “2 miles” should differentiate the distance from 3200m, people often use 2 miles and 3200m interchangeably. These people are stupid, but are also in the vast majority. This creates the need for further clarification. Thus, “full 2 miles”. Any fan of the sport should understand this.
I second this opinion. The distinction shouldn’t be needed but it is.
Incredible performance. Verzbicas, Derrick, Virgin, Sage, Marius Bakken, just some of the great names unable to run this fast on that course.
Notably, a sophomore ran 14:30 and another 14:44.
I think what's most impressive is that the kid did it all by himself. Some kid from Maine South tried to hang with him at the start, but other than that there was never anyone within 30 meters of Methner the entire way. We always thought that the record wouldn't go down until there were two guys pushing each other to break it. Guess we were wrong.
Craig Virgin was REALLY GOOD, that is why his Record lasted 47 years, but like the old saying says, somebody better ALWAYS comes along and that somebody is Josh Methner, look for Methner to win some World XC Championsips and set American Records on the Track, just like Virgin did in his day.

Distance running, especially with the flux of more E Africans and more training knowledge has increase a lot since Virgin's days. Let's not jump the gun here.
Weather is also critical in running Detweiler. They had about perfect weather yesterday, not taking anything away from anybody. It was about as perfect for Josh as could be and he was able to take advantage of it.
BTW, did anyone pay attention to the fact that Tatum David in 2A ran a faster winning time than Katelynn Hart did in 3A, 16.04 to 16.05? Worth noting!
Even more worth noting that David and Hart are both privately coached by Trent Sanderson, talk about trouble in paradise. Step aside Katelynne Hart, there is a new Queen in town!
And the sophomore that ran 14:44 is from Ethiopia and looks like he is in his twenties.

In his second world cross win he beat the Ethiopians including Yifter
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
