Amazing run. Torres could not do it, Sage could not do it, no one could do it until today. Superb job. And a great pic of Josh with Craig Virgin after the record went down.

Verzbikas couldn’t break the record and he went on to run sub-4 in rainy conditions and 8:29 full 2 miles.
Chris Derrick couldn’t do it and he ran 13:55 for 5,000m on the track. -

What's even better was that the IHSA was all over this almost 50 year record and provided streaming video of the accomplishment. It was a real joy to watch. Congrats to the IHSA.

While saying “2 miles” should differentiate the distance from 3200m, people often use 2 miles and 3200m interchangeably. These people are stupid, but are also in the vast majority. This creates the need for further clarification. Thus, “full 2 miles”. Any fan of the sport should understand this. -

I was at the race. I believe I heard 11:40 for 2.5 miles. He looked like he was just cruising at that point.

Was Virgin following around the new King of Detweiler on a golf cart? I can't wait to see the video of this race.
