if you run so hard that you feel like puking, puking will make you feel better. there is nothing even remotely bad about that.
If you look beyond the writings here we can only accept that Salazar has been found guilty on several points against the
regulations and got four years banned. He will be remembered mainly as the man who was balancing on the edge of the rules and finally got busted. For the sake of clean and following the rules running sport , we must say it was good that he finally got banned.

And yet, he is a drug cheat, and just got banned for four years for three ADRVs. How can he not be a disgrace to this sport? Good thing he is finally out, at least for now.
Mary's allegations, confirmed by several of her fellow athletes, come on top of that.

If Joseph Stalin were alive today he couldn't have said it better.
I suspect Alberto is telling the truth. Whether Mary proves to be a liar like Kara and Steve remains to be seen. Regardless, it's unfortunate that she felt pushed to self-harm and had thoughts of suicide. I'm glad she's in a better place now, but I'm definitely suspicious of the language she used. Definitely an agenda being pushed here, whether it was her choice/intention or not.
Much of the time the reason lots of people say someone is a bad person is because that person really is a bad person. You might want to include that in your thinking.
Salazar is a drug cheat. There's proof. He's a disgrace to the sport.

Exactly.
Sad to see Mary milking the 'helpless victim' angle. She signed up for NOP because she wanted to be the best. Being the best in track isn't living a happy, comfortable life with the people around you all trying to build up your self-esteem.
She clearly needed a college coach/confidant and not the pro setting.
being a professional athlete is really hard, and the people there are not there to be your friends or really care about you other than your ability to perform, once you are no longer able to physically perform, you're just another person. Mary took it all personal, and I think LOTS of pro athletes have this realization late in their careers or at the end.
They say they love you, they chant your name in the stand, but the second you can't perform they are asking who's on the bench and can take your place.

Yep. That's why it's called professional sports. And I am sure she got a nice paycheck as well.
For me it looks like she wants another sweet payout from Nike. But that's just my view.

Salazar is nothing like Armstrong.
Armstrong is a Trumpian liar and thug.
The worst you can say about Salazar is that he did some surprisingly stupid things in trying to give his athletes a legal edge.

Too true. People are jumping to conclusions about A.S. and all the denigration and innuendo about him has crucified his reputation. Some points.
1. Yes, he pushed the limits of what is permissible, and really experimented with different things, including using his sons as guinea pigs. He himself would concede it was not an ideal situation but he was researching all avenues to take his proteges to a different level, which he did.
2. Drug cheat? - Most probably not. The average reader, will no real knowledge about this case will assume that A.S. is a drug cheat and that is a great injustice.
3. Mary Cain, Kara Goucher and others - coming out with all this negativity post their careers. What people forget - is that those same people were full of praise and appreciation on training under him when they were with him.
4. Despicable personality and character? - No, definitely not. Those who know A.S. well know that he is a focused, type A personality. He does not suffer fools gladly and of course he expects in others - the same level of commitment and dedication that he himself displayed during his career. He epitomizes the type of person on the innovative genius spectrum. Those kinds of people do things at a higher level and because of their commitment and focus, not everyone can tolerate the way they operate.
5. The way A.S. was ejected from the credentialed area of the stadium at the IAAF World Championships in Doha, this past summer - was a real disgrace and a low mark in the sport. It was tantamount to being treated as a criminal, which he is not.
An appeal is pending and let us hope that new light will be shed on the case and that Alberto will be able to recoup some of his previously lauded reputation. He does not deserve this. He needs to be strong to weather the storm. We wish him and his family and friends the best of success.
On a side note - I live in China, and it is curious to compare his case with Sun - the celebrated swimmer (400- 1500) from China, who clearly took PEDs and even destroyed some urine samples recently and got away with it. He is celebrated and idolized in China. No one, absolutely no one in China has a problem with Sun. Very different vibe.
Alberto Salazar does not deserve this vilification. Let the case be evaluated by the powers that be in a fair way and render a fair, revised judgment.

This can't be said enough. When it was working for them they were all about some AlSal, but once they were past their prime, they blame him for being mean.
The lesson here is to avoid coaching girls. Sorry only a few people can deal with the drama that comes with stroking the fragile female ego. Honestly, I would avoid them like the a disease.

Yes, like permanent, lifetime ban.
You people act like you're damaged, did your dads abandon you?
You'd have to be desperate for AlSal to become your surrogate daddy.
Are you hoping he'll experiment with PEDs on you?

His case has been evaluated by "the powers that be." Maybe the appeal will have a different outcome but it's kind of disturbing to see how many people just want to shrug off the outcome of what was apparently a very thorough investigation. I too know people who know Salazar and they say he's very good company, personable, all that. Similarly, I have a friend who knew Regina Jacobs pretty well and had nothing but good things to say about her. Being a cheater does not mean that you can't be personable or an otherwise decent human.
And what is your point about China's reaction to Sun? Is it that we're supposed to admire cheaters and overlook the cheating if they're successful enough?
I used to be a journalist, and while I think Al Sal is trash, that was a liberal NYT hit. Them not allowing the other side a fair chance to tell their story is not good. Journalism is as slanted as PR is. At least PR is honest about who/what it represents.
Like how they got Al Capone for tax evasion.
Sometimes you never know how it'll turn out in the end, years later.

So I imagined that entire heat of the women’s 1500 locking hands to protest Alberto being an a-hole to Gabe at USA indoors?
I’ve been a really big fan of Gabe even while she was in college.
That said, I couldn’t fault AS for filing the protest. Gabe made a couple questionable moves in that race, and Al needed to protect his athlete.
