BCP are also used to not have a cycle (don’t take the blanks). They also cause water gain. I never knew anyone who ran faster on the pill. Many females don’t menstruate during race seasons but will start again (if they are not caloric restricted) in the off season. Healthy fueled bodies won’t suffer from osteoporosis. Form, shoes etc are also causes of fractures. So was Cain told to take them in the off season? More likely they are used as a masking agent.
The BCP has side effects. Why? They don’t protect you from STDs or HPV. Maybe for fibroids or PCOS but otherwise no.
You don’t get stress fractures without first having low bone density, and that’s not caused by your shoes.
That's not true. You can get stress fractures from overtraining, increasing your mileage too rapidly, running on different terrain than you're used to . Many runners I know both men and women, myself included had stress fractures and no one had low bone density or was underweight.

TxRUNNERgirl, you are wrong. Please read this and plenty of other material on why runners get stress fractures. low bone density is certainly not a requirement.

Nothing wrong with txRUNNERgirls statement.
Besides, your rebuttal consisted of a Runners World article. What else can I say, you posted it.

How much money did Nike give Cain to turn pro?
Close to 500k a year and they continued to pay her even after she left the NOP. Contract was apparently up this last summer.
Wow! Alberto can call me whatever the F he wants to for $500,000 a year.
Plenty of people get black eyes from walking into poles too.
I pay people to abuse me, and that fatty Mary gets paid to get berated!? Fatty Mary doesn't know how good she had it.

1964 Phillies blew a 6.5 game lead with 12 games left.
One of the causes of stress reactions or fractures is bone density. NOT a requirement! If you like I can post additional links.

source on that amount? the sponsorship definitely lines up with her athletes.biz page
Cain can’t possibly be under contract with NIKE. Possible that her contract was up in June, she wasn’t permitted back on NOP in April and decided to sell to the NYT.
When I was in high school, my mom bought the groceries I asked her to buy and cooked for me what I wanted to eat. When I became a college runner, I ate the prison slop in chow hall. I also ate an entire 16oz. box of granola cereal in the evening. Head XC and T&F coach informed me I had a meeting in his office. He talked about my weight one on one. He told me I needed to see the physiologist for percent of body fat. Physiologist reviewed my diet. I made the necessary changes. Working out as hard as we did, it was easy to lose the weight and reduce my body fat. Maybe I would have lost the weight if I were called out in front of my teammates, maybe not. The old ways are not necessarily the best ways.
