2:56:20 for my former training partner Richard Garcia.
Have no idea what he was trying to run as I didn't know he was running until Friday.
I'm giving him a gentleman's "B".

I ran pretty even splits and came in just under my goal time which came down 5 minutes from my initial goal time when starting 18 weeks of Daniels 2Q 55-70 mpw.
Crowd wasn't as loud as I expected. Bridges weren't as much of an incline as I expected. Im used to small local races where I get to the line minutes before the start so the start was more hassle and waiting than I'm used to but I guess part of the major.
Didn't get a chance to warm up with a jog before but felt fine just under MP when the gun went off.
10 minute PR and BQ so I'm pretty happy, missed my goal by 1:30 though. My watch had me at 26.7 and 2 minutes under my goal at 26.2. I definitely wasn't able to run the diagonals and had to do some weaving, so no clue if that's accurate but it makes sense. Felt pretty bad at 22 but managed to not lose too much off my target pace at that point and was well under target through 16.
What a beautiful day to run though, conditions were perfect.
Neither of you gave yourself a grade or posted your results so I give you an F for following directions.
If they gave exact info, posters like Greg would look them up and pleasure himself to their likenesses.

Posting personel info here is a bad idea.
Ran a 3:06 and am giving myself an A.
I ran 1:26 at the Staten Island Half 3 weeks prior so the 3:06 was right on target. I was aiming for 3:05-3:10.
Ran 93 minutes in the first half, 93 minutes in the back half, actually negative split the whole race by a few seconds.
Consistent pace, negative split and a PR - can't ask for me. Averaged 80mpw all summer but started the year in disastrous shape, so a huge victory for me.
42F and 10mph to start the race, a little cold for me. Would prefer 55F and no wind.
FWIW I ran in the Vaporfly Next%, no idea if it had a big, minor or no impact.
I always forget how tough that run up 5th Avenue at Mile 24 is, such a leg destroyer.
It was a good day overall. Sorry to see Sara Hall drop out at 18.
if you PRd please post the shoes you wore as well ;)
Got daggered by a calf cramp right before Queensboro Bridge. 1:16 through half feeling great. 2:43 hobble town USA finish after the cramp. 10 minutes off goal time but a PR by 3 minutes, if that's confusing enough.
Shoes: New Balance Fuel Cell Rebel. To think I could have hobbled to a 2:41 with the Vaporfly.....
Report card: C. Views from the Varrazzano were cool tho. You know, after you literally fight through everyone who inserts themselves to the front of wave 1 corral A and then gets off the gun at 9 minute pace
I didn't run the race but I am asking those who did. The times for runners I tracked and the elites were not as fast expected heading into it based on weather forecast. What was going on out there? Was it little too cold at the start. I know starting time temp is way too low for me. I would prefer 50 at the coldest.

42F with 10mph winds on a tough course. It's not Big Sur but it's no Berlin/Chicago, either.
2:56:20...D.
But thanks though. Not bad for a former baseball guy turned hobby jogger I guess. Definitely not a PR.
Cheaterfly next%
Richard
2:41
First marathon. 41. Identify as male. Next%.
The course is great. Hillier through Brooklyn than I anticipated, and there was bit of wind about, but the crowds were insane. Thanks, New York!
I ran and thought it was a faster course than advertised if you want it to be. Looking around it seems the international runners have really bought into the Vaporfly propoganda.
I'm an older guy and also I'm a hard core hobby jogger (17min 5k), so even though I do own a pair of Vaporfly Next% and some other fancy shoes, I ran New York in Hokas. They are not as bouncy, but I'm just used to them. Hey, and I got my BQ yesterday, more than 6 minutes under BQ for my age group. Not sure if it is going to be enough, however. I mean, to actually get in, with literally everyone around me hopping in those springy Next% shoes
I ran a pedestrian 3:24 and change.
I wore the VF Flyknit, I think my fourth race in those ?
I just paced a friend to a 3:14 two weeks before, and am racing the Indianapolis Marathon in five days - wanted to make sure I didn’t go out too hard that I couldn’t make a sub-3 / BQ attempt there.
Too much time on the feet / touristing with family and friends this weekend (and waaaaay too many drinks) to take NYC seriously for time.

Oh hay Dylan
Grade C.
Ran 3:18 in next%. Not in good shape now, about 15 lbs overweight. Shoes saved me from running over 3:20. Pb is 2:52 in streaks and 15lbs less. 47 years old.
There was a headwind in some areas that was felt in some areas in Brooklyn, Queensboro bridge and coming out of the Bronx.
For being the largest marathon in the world I believe, everything was smooth. Having to wait around in the cold for 3 hours before the race was a new experience though.
The course had lots of rollers and interesting buildings. Crowds were really loud which made the finishing stretch feel like the Olympics. Weather was perfect. Hit my goal of qualifying for Berlin with fairly even split 2:44. Not a PR but a good time on a fair course off low easy mileage training. The post race atmosphere around town was my favorite. Made tons of new friends and connections with people because we all were feeling the post race highs. Good times. I could see myself running this again.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
