Great results guys, especially the BEAST known as GT--super efforts! Smart move on yor part, RRR. You have plenty of running ahead of you. I am still at work and will probably check in later...

This was 100% the right call. 5:35 with a pack is 5:45+ solo into the wind. Great run, Slo. I really hope you'll give sub-2:30 another shot. A runner I respect once pointed out to me that you have to have a fast course, competition, and great weather to really hit your potential. (True for any race, of course, but doubly so for the marathon.) You only got 2 out of the 3. One of these days if that 3rd shows up, I'm convinced you'll sail right under that barrier.

Agreed. It’s rough when the pack does something weird, but in that wind, running solo isn’t a good option either. And each marathon is so idiosyncratic that it’s almost absurd to talk about times without a lot of context. Regardless, well done. I really did think you would have been well under 2:29, but the stars did not align.
GT - Good running! Not a shocker, and with that finish you clearly could’ve wrung our something a little faster. (Only a tune up for the Turkey Trot, of course.)
RRR - Tough break that the leg wasn’t right, and sorry to hear that there was worse stuff.
AJ - I know you were aiming for a little faster, but still a very impressive run so soon after Berlin.
A pack of wild running beasties, y'all be!!!!! I couldn't follow you all in "real time" as I was out with the in-laws, but so cool to wake up and see all the good news. Gordon is just a blur! AJ's back-to-back madness is epic! Slo may be twitchin' slo, but dang he sure does run fast. RRR gutting it out as far as his injury would take him.
There's something to learn from all of these races. Looking forward to the details!

I’m looking forward to hearing if RRR located a 12 pack of beer and his coveted 8 bean burritos from Taco Bell.
RRR has a six pack of negra modelo he just popped off at the ole hotel motel holiday inn. I actually have a bag that contains 8 bean burritos (I feel I am predictable in life as my race results). And Bama LSU on tv. (Which is heating up)
So the day is getting better.
Cliff notes. Dropped at 6.56 miles. Walked to 10k med tent. Sat there for an hour in half tights and a tank shivering to death for an hour. Finally got to the finish line from the sad sag wagon. Barely walking. Then couldn’t locate my buddy who had car keys and warms clothes for another 1.5 hours. Was brutal. Cold to the core.
But my boi ran a 2 min PR. So was all worth it.
If you wanna run a fast half marathon. Challenge R3 to a race. Guaranteed results.
Ooof. That's rough RRR. I'm shocked they didn't have space blankets or something at a minimum in the med tent.
Smart decision to drop and save it. No valor in running oneself into permanent damage. I hope you get this figured out/fixed.
Slo - you did not disappoint. Still a kick ass performance. So you know, my plan had also been to stick with the 2:55 group into that wind. You can't fight something like that for that long.
Angry Johnny - just back to back beastliness.
GT - nothing that I can say that hasn't already been said - way to bring it in.
Thanks for all the inspiration to those of us planning/hoping to run Richmond next weekend!
Running sometimes just sucks.
thanks folks. Correction- I spaced..second biggest positive split. I must have repressed my Boston experience with ~2:40 pace for the first half and 3:20+pace for the second. Good times.
JB and Sub6 thanks for the votes of confidence. It may happen someday. I’m not getting any younger, so I guess I may need to get in the ring more than once a year. Sub6- honestly 2:28 would have been a best case scenario and 2:29 would have taken a 8.5 or 9/10 day for me.
Thanks folks. I really appreciate the kind words. Will post a report of my race tomorrow from the comfort of my couch, where I intend to spend at least 12 hours tomorrow.
Props to my man GT for the massive PR. Really happy for you man. That was some damn fine running.
Big congrats to all of the Indy Monumental runners!
GT: Awesome half marathon! Congrats on going sub-1:15 especially with all of that wind.. hopefully I can join you in the sub-75 club in my next half.
slo: Great races even though you didn't quite hit your goal. It's very hard to try to keep up with a fast pack but the drafting against a headwind is key.
AJ: Congratulations on a very fast race even though you didn't quite hit your goals especially the back to back so soon after Berlin.
RRR: I think you made the right call in stopping.. you don't want to risk any serious, long term injury by continuing with that kind of pain.. Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery.
