Ok darkwave, the ball is in your court, haha. Way to go for it, GT. To date, a very strong contender for performance of the year. Right there with Sub 6:00 and JQ. Still have some gentlemen in this race that might also have something to say about it.
These performances are just amazing. Well done GT!
Thanks. Should have listened to Slo and gone with him from the gun because I closed way too fast (5:34, 5:36 6:06 for last 1.1mi), but my A goal I kept to myself was 1:14:xx, so pretty pumped. Still managed to find my way to the not-totally-dry heaves in the finishing chute after my tomahawk slam over the line.
Slo thru 30K at 1:46:13 (5:42 avg)
Let's go last 10K!!! Just have to hold pace and under 2:30
AJ thru 30K at 1:53:37 (6:06) avg, same situation to hit the 2:40!
Great job GT!!! Impressive
Damn, really close efforts from Slo and AJ! Both 2:31 and 2:41 high, hell of a run and great racing!!
Hope RRR is doing okay w/ the leg, assuming he played it smart and dropped out, still gave it hell up to at least the 10K as far as we know!
Incredible day of running, boys. You all served the RRTT proudly. Now I hope you are being served some well fought celebratory drinks.
2:41:59. Went for it. Didn’t have it. Live to fight another day.
2:40:28 and 2:41:59 just 42 days apart should receive its own award for “performance” of the year. Especially given how you started from pretty much scratch back in June. That’s an amazing accomplishment which I hope you can appreciate.

Congrats! Fabulous result!
Well done boys. Well done. Wind got fierce down the back i know.
I was feeling good miles 4-5. Before the 10k Mat things got dicey. At the 10k mat I was still locked on to AJ but it locked up fast. Couldn’t get any leg extension down the hamstring totally locked and it shot up my back to the base of my neck .. which was new. Thinking I may be causing damage so. Dropped. Doctor visit for X Rays is in order .. that was just the start of one of the worst mornings of my life but will write that up later. Now it’s time to kill the pain in the way I know how.
Cups up fellas.
Big Balls Racing Crew representing today! Nice job everyone.
Beasts, sorry to disappoint! The first half of the race was solid and according to plan given the tailwind. I didn’t feel great, but last year I felt terrible by mile 11 and still bounced back and mostly held it together, so whatever. I made a decision to stay with a pack at all costs going back into the wind. They were at another level however and were hammering at a beastly level... there were some 5:35s dropped into the wind and a sub-5:40 on the one uphill mile into the wind. I held it as long as I could, and kept telling myself they were working harder then I was to hit those paces. but I really cracked and could barely hold 6:00 pace for the last 9 miles. I’m not saying I would have done much better going solo into the wind either though! Still a PR and somehow managed to run from 26 to the finish at 5:26 pace to narrowly go 2:31-high. This is the biggest positive split I’ve had in a marathon, but I don’t regret it... the plan was 2:29 or bust. Although it did not hit my goal, I’m still relatively happy with the race. If it had been over 2:32, I would probably be annoyed though.
I would like to add some more context... GT’s hammerfest during the last 5k was into a 12mph headwind.
Legendary lunch hang with R3 & Co and twas great to see AJ go Monumental in back to back greatness.
Great races everyone! Can't believe AJ and Slo could get so close with having to fight into the headwind at the end, that would destroy me. RRR - smart to drop, I too often push through, injure myself, and blow up in the race anyway, wish I had more willpower to drop more often. Keep the good news rolling in :)
