This TV coverage sucks.
This TV coverage sucks.
Only Ward, Abdi and Connor McMillan with lead pack at 5K, with most of US men now a full minute back.
Desisa was leading and didn't even try to grab his bottle at 5k. I get the feeling that he's going to drop out. I heard from someone in NYC that it was difficult even convincing Desisa to run NYC given the quick turnaround from Worlds as it wasn't incredibly smooth for him.
If Desisa dropout of new york, can we see him in Dubai? How fast can he run in Dubai. He is more experienced now. Can he run sub2:03 in Dubai?
What do you think Des Is doing here? What’s the strategy?
Couldn't believe how far back in the crowd the big 3:00 hour pace sign was. Will have to check results to see how many finish under 3:00.
She’s gapped the field by 21 seconds
Desi's lead now stretching out slowly. About 10 seconds out front alone just shy of 10 miles in.
Is there any sports event with as horrible coverage as marathon (US coverage seems especially bad)?
Can't really think of anything even remotely close.
Desi has nothing to lose now. She is probably not running the trials. So she can go all out and see if she can hold that pace

Yes everyone, we know the coverage sucks. It always has sucked, it currently sucks, and it probably always will suck. Posting it here contributes nothing to the race discussion. Band together with like minded others and try to do something about it. Oh, and after the 13.6 seconds it took you to read this - the coverage still sucks.

The buzz in the press box is he had to be convinced to even got on the plane for NY so many were predicting him to DNF.
Let's see if the competitive juices take over or if he just cashes that appearance check.
Where’s Kitata?
Since when is 4:49 pace a 2:16 projected finish?

No, not at any time in the race. 5 second lead at the moment, 10 1/2 miles in.

She wants to take a shot, and going with a consistent even pace push, rather than waiting for the extremes...so she is hunkering down and doing the work.

Who cares? Go back to the women or men's elite!
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
Des Linden: "The entire sport" has changed since she first started running Boston.
