Just stumbled upon the end of the SEC Cross Country championships on the SEC network channel, so thought I'd start this random thread just in case anyone finds fun or interesting on which they want to comment as the various conference meets are run over the next couple days.
Coaches' Association homepage with links to the various conference meets - https://www.ustfccca.org/meets-results/conference-championships-central
At the SEC Championships, I'd say almost everything went as anticipated:
(1) Dominant team victories as anticipated for Ole Miss (35 points vs. 90 for 2nd place Alabama) on the men's side and Arkansas (21 points vs. 93 for 2nd place Ole Miss) on the women's side.
(2) Individually, the Alabama stars finished 1-2 on the men's side as anticipated, although it was VERY close for 2nd over Ole Miss's Suliman. On the women's side, a minor upset as Arkansas transfer (from Cal Poly) Izzo gets the win by ~4.5 seconds over favorite Werner (also with Arkansas).

SEC cross country championships are as entertaining to me as a drum set to Hellen Keller. The depth is absolutely terrible. The top people are going to be at the top no matter what, and nothing useful can be taken from the results.
-
LOL, Cuse came out of the toilet to take a dump on the rest of the ACC today, and without Tooker.
This year's title was the last of the low hanging fruit because Vin will have Virginia rolling before too long.
ND found out what it's like to be the hunted rather than the hunter. They should be ashamed of themselves.
The Milt man did not earn any contract bonuses today. At least he could say he got top 10.
NC State continues to affirm the genius decision Craig Engels made to transfer away to Ole Miss. How on earth do they only finish 8th?

At the Mountain West Conf. (MWC) Championships (streaming on Flotrack Pro), Utah State win both the team (42 points, over Colorado State (74) and Wyoming (75)) and individual (FARNSWORTH, Dallin) championships in the men's race.
Women's race about to begin in chilly (27 degrees) Logan Utah.
Live timings - http://www.rtspt.com/events/mw/2019-XC/ -
Wierd coverage by Flotrack of the Mountain West Championships where the announcer (or maybe it's just a course announcer) keeps on saying he can't tell who's leading (Kelati as expected). He seems to not know about the live timing?
-
Kelati as expected wins easily at the MWC Championships and leads the New Mexico women to the team championship (unofficially 31 points over Air Force (54) and Boise State (63).)
Assume not a big deal as it was her 1st race of the season, but Lobo Adva Cohen, looked on as being key for New Mexico's podium chances at NCAA's, was showing in 2nd at the 2nd/ last split (which was only at the 2K mark for some reason), but only finished 33rd (and not one of New Mexico's top 7). -
NCAA XC is weird. Who in the hell besides the athletes, coaches a few local classmates of the host school, actually show up to watch a championship meet at 10:00am or 11:00am on a Friday?
This is why XC sucks and doesn't have any and I mean any fans outside of the athletes and parents. -
Cohen tried to go with Kelati quickly realized Weini's fitness level is crazy good. I was actually impressed by the lobos scoring 5, as it didnt include Adva but were still 5th, 10th, and 13th.......Including a freshman finishing 10th. Im guessing Cohen will grow from today and be inside their top three.

BYU's women dismantling the entire WCC.
8 runners were all in the top 10. -
The Pac 12 Championships telecasts are scheduled to start soon on the Pac 12 Networks, with the men's starting at 11:00 AM PT (2:00 PM ET) and the women's 12:00 PM PT (3:00 PM ET), with the men's race scheduled to start at 11:10 AM PT and the women's at 12:10 PM PT.
Live timings - https://live.athletictiming.net/meets/4679
Note - If you happen to live outside the U.S. in one of 85 or so countries that can access it (among others, believe a lot of Western Europe is covered), assume (??) the race telecasts may also be viewable on the Pac 12 International Youtube channel - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5Bd77AR8MU . -
SEC championship mens times look stupid fast because, according to the results, it was 7820m instead of 8000. On the broadcast they said it was 300m short. Why not just make it 8k? Is it really that hard to push the start line back?

Utah State taking a page from BYU. Farnsworth is what, 26 or 27 years old? Congratulations on beating a bunch of kids, old man. -
At Pac 12's, very good day for the Colorado men as they get the team (41 pts.) and individual (Joe Klecker) wins.
Oregon also, at least based on national rankings, has a good day as they beat 3 teams (Stanford (69 pts.), UCLA (84) and Washington (87)) ranked ahead of them to finish 2nd (with 57 pts.). -

He just transferred there from BYU to work on his master's. They're happy to have him. Great teammate.
Dude has had a horrible injury history and it's amazing he's still running TBH. I don't even know how many medical redshirts he's had. -
In 2015 as a freshman he was the top runner for his team at NCAA's. Then injuries derailed his career and he could never get back to being healthy enough to make the XC team.
Good to see his perseverance pay off with a MWC conference title this year!
Congrats to him and Utah State on their first team and individual MWC titles. -
Stanford 1-2-3 in Pac 12 Women's
-
Stanford with a dominating win in THE Conference of Champions women's race, as they unofficially finish with 27 pts., ahead of Washington (55), Utah (86) and Colorado (89).
-
Oregon slips all the way down to 5th in the Pac 12 women's race. Utah drubbed them.

Freshman in 2015... Graduated high school in 2012. Doesnt change the fact that this guy is closer to 30 than 20. NCAA D1 needs an age limit to compete. Runner-up was TRUE senior Forrest Barton who is what, 22 years-old? Barton gets robbed by an age cheat who get special treatment because he can't figure out how to run without hurting himself? Ridiculous.

Save your breath, look at the women's race. The 2nd place finisher and national champion is two years his elder without a mission or medical redshirt.
Using a guy who had medical hardships and a two year mission is the not the best way to make a solid case for age limits in the NCAA.
How about someone with uninterrupted training who enters the NCAA at 26 years of age and wins a national championship in XC with 2 seasons of cross country left.
That's how you make a solid case, not by picking on a 26 year old guy who has only competed in one XC championship because of injuries.
