5 pages in and none posted, then there aren't any.
When did posters here start believing unproven times? Obviously if you claim to run sub 15 you have to prove it. And if you claim your old PB was sub 15, prove that too.
What we're seeing here is a current of people who want to believe it so they can insult each other, but in so doing they disgrace the integrity of the sport! Results or it never happened.
I'm posting under an anon handle to be somewhat antagonistic, but if someone cared to do a bit of research on me under my normal handle searching posts they could find out who I was and my college PBs. Hundreds of college runners break 15 every year, which means there are thousands of us keyboard warriors now, many lurking around letsrun. If you don't believe a handful may have posted on this thread and you need proof some guy could have run a mediocre women's time, well I don't know what to say.
Sorry you're slow.
15 minutes is a mediocre women’s time? Dayum.
This is LetsRun.. anything over 13:00/14:30 is considered mediocre - as if even your neighbour's cat could do it

Along those lines, here are the results for our local high school in the state CC finals, a couple days ago at the 3A(largest schools) level:
Girls took first with an average time of 19:44
Boys were third with these times and places:
15:50, 2
16:48, 49
16:53, 58
17:02, 77
17:19, 120
17:40, 164
It is not an easy course, but the times were peak performances for some of the runners.
That there are many faster runners in much larger states does not mean that those kids who run on either side of 17 minutes are a dime a dozen.
This is a typical year for the program. The kid who finished second will receive many scholarship offers with numbers two and three hoping to reach his level as they become upper classmen.
The girls have a similar distribution of one or two stars with others providing a solid team batting average.

Don't know what to say if you think a boxer can't run under 20 without great genes.
I'm homozygous CC for ACTN3 genotype (more common in powerlifters and sprinters). I do not run, I only lift weights. I ran a 21 min flat 5k off of solely weightlifting training.
I ran XC and track in HS. My best 5k at the time was 17:44.
Point is, I'm no Bekele.
You are either trolling or don't have a great sense of what general cardiovascular fitness is.
Whoops - This is in reply to Learn the Systems
A preliminary search says ACTN3 is found in elite athletes, with no detrimental effects on aerobic activity. So if you're saying you're just average, then okay, you've proved my point. Because in my post I stated someone with no running background and doesn't actively run. If you never ran track/XC, you would not come close to 21 on weight lifting alone. And boxing BY ITSELF, is about as running specific as weightlifting.
To Ciro and nodude, read the post again. I said boxer, not professional boxer. There are plenty of amateur boxers who go to the gym to spar a few hours a week who aren't going to be hitting the roads.

You know what, I made a mistake in replying in the first place because the thought of a boxer who doesn't run is silly and also it's obvious it's not such a herculean task to crack 20 mins in a 5k on general aerobic fitness.
I need to know more about this boxer. O.P. stated this fella is a professional boxer. How highly ranked is he? What are the details of his training? Boxers do not run any more than 60 miles a week. Usually, far less. Is this guy really a runner who does some boxing? I need to know facts.
A lot of insecure dudes here. Professional boxer ran 14:26 for a 5k. Let it be. All we do is run and we can't even break 17!
You don’t run 14:xx of just boxer training. This guy has some sick natural ability as well.

Obviously it depends on how much road work a boxer does. A modern boxer might not do as much, and might not have a good 5k because only running improves running economy. But any boxer running 30 miles per week plus hitting a heavy bag a speed bag skipping rope sparring and shadow boxing and drilling does have a good 5k time. All of that helps so classic boxers like Ali were fast runners. Even Larry Bird ran a 17 minute 5k so it's more of a factor of how much running and cardio you while standing on your feet, than weight.

If you told me Kevin McHale was a 17 minute 5K runner, I would possibly believe you. Larry Bird was chubby for several seasons. You have to prove to me Larry Bird was a 17 5K runner.
This is true. Quite a few UFC fighters in lowere weight classes have posted sub 17 5K times.
This guy is the English super-middleweight boxing champion and undefeated. He just ran a sub 17:30 parkrun on a slow course.
Boxing has several weight classes so given the general conditioning a boxer goes through, a bantamweight or featherweight could easily be a potential sub 15 5K'er. We're talking a division of guys under 125 lbs...
Not your average boxer wear spikes
As impressive as this? I think not.
"there's nothing I can't do" how about running 12;37 or boxing against a 250 Pound African American?
