Camille would be a decent marathoner if she didn't insist on smiling every step of every race. Look at Brigid Kosgei: doesn't even smile after demolishing the marathon WR.
Smiling or not, Camille would have been a better Marathoner with a better not so meat focused diet.
A couple less beers would be good too.
You have a point. All those vegans winning marathons are a great testament to running on a cellulose-based diet. I mean, her marathon PR is only one minute faster than Scott Jurek's. That is weak for sure.
Styles vary wildly, but a common theme is human stamina overall. Many compete in their 80s, the over-90 record for 100K is 17 hours. Generally, mobility is healing for humans. What we were bred for.

I should have included "...weak for sure, considering she ran three more miles than him in the 24H."

Camille showed a mental toughness to run for 24 hours but it's such a tiny uncompetitive sport that it can't be given any credibility. She can't compete on anything other than 100 miles plus on the flat and running style will never allow her to run well at Western States etc. She is happy in her little niche and there is nothing wrong with that .
This. Especially the last part of the paragraph. She is good at really long distances/times on flat surfaces, but hasn’t had as much success on technical trails or races. So yes she has found her niche at what she is good at, but it’s hard to compare her to other ultra and trail runners like Duwaulter who has won Western States and UTMB.
As an RD, I’ll always say to trail runners:
You too can have a 24-hour WC on Mont Blanc if that’s your thing. But who would organize & pay for it? How many nations could afford to acclimatize & prepare? It couldn’t be fair, either, since ability at altitude varies but many people born at altitude run well lower down (half the Africans, for example). It’s bs, empty words.

You are right (at least this time ), Scott Jurek's 24 hour best is just 266.677 but that was 2010.

That's true but Jurker won Western States 7 times and Spartathlon 3 times. Batwater , Hardrock. Camille has only 2 DNF's to report from Western States. At least one with a spectacular concussion. Which must be a world record for early retirements in 100 milers.
Is competitive ultra running similar to eurocentric track and field before the rest of the world got involved? I wonder if this effort would crack the top 50 if there was million dollar prize.

Are you a physical therapist or educated in gait analysis? Some of the smoothest, quietest runners careers end in injury. It's not that simple. Yes it is an ugly stride. It works for her

Camille is has a long list of injuries. She has just a couple of years left.
Read this:
Multiple hardships and injuries followed, including a stress fracture in her foot which kept her from racing.
Once her injury finally healed, Herron came back stronger to cross country and made All-State, which led to her recruitment by the University of Tulsa. Although she accepted athletic and academic scholarships, Herron found herself dealing with a stress fracture during that first year of collegiate running and ultimately received a medical hardship waiver. Her competitive running career had quickly turned into a recreational hobby.

Now that is rich!
@jesseriley
Are you her mom or dad wtf?
Speaking of self-proclaimed forever-world-class proctor, Camille’s gender-graded score would be about 184 miles for him (of the 157 PR). All he needs is another 17%.
