Essentially what I’m asking here is if there are any glaringly obvious problems with my training that has led to consistent mental and or physical burnout or injury. Currently, I am at the point where I feel pretty defeated, and if it isn’t one thing, it’s another. At the moment I am exhausted and just don’t really feel motivated to train or compete, and haven’t really been enjoying many aspects of my life. Regardless, here is some training background/examples:
High school: 35/40 mpw, workouts were always really hard, lots of ppm/ Paavo based workouts but without the mileage.
College part1: 60 mpw, lots of tempos and some of the hardest interval workouts I’ve ever done. Lots of Ks.
College part 2: 60-70mpw, “Michigan” workouts quite often, lots of LT work and relaxed workouts with minimal rest.
Current/past two years: ran a very consistent 70-75, then dropped down to 60 for indoor track and cut out doubles because they were getting me hurt imo. Relaxed workouts, some longer tempos. This summer I focused on a consistent 70 and tempo/aerobic work.
This is very general, but if someone is interested enough to reply I will post my log in detail. I appreciate anyone posting. Btw I am male and have PRs of 4:02(1500), 8:41 (3k), 15:04 (5k), and am working towards my goals of 14:xx, 30:xx (10k) and 68:xx (half marathon)
