I have my son and daughter, ages 7 and 10 50 percent of the time, so l am not a weekend dad, but l have been paying my ex child support, although I don't make as much anymore because my kids are with me a lot; so l miss a lot of work and make much less. She has a decent job, and can always take off of work to go to school functions, all the while I have to work harder to pay her money. They are going on vacations two times a year, but I can't take my kids anywhere. I also pay 70 percent of the expenses. Something has to give because I agree if your kids don't live with you, you should pay child support, but if your ex has a decent job and you have your kids 50% of the time you shouldn't be penalized just because you make a tad more. My daughter asked me why we don't do fun stuff, like at her Mom's. It's because l can't afford it. HOW IS THIS LAW FAIR? I can see if the other ex works at McDonald's and you are a multimillion-dollar doctor. But what if your just an upper middle class average Joe and she is the same?
