The classical admonition comes from religion, but regardless it is a self-deprecating act. She isn’t into you and would never have sex with you willingly, and you’re acting like a beta provider by engaging in such a transaction.

I know it is challenging for modern atheist to understand, but back in the day there are things called morals. Even those who are not religious generally kept the morals of society. I am a devout Muslim but Christians and even the despised Jews advocate such good morals.
Now of course somebody’s going to throw out the canard that yes Christians and Muslims sometimes are those who frequent prostitutes. The difference is that Christianity and Islam Say that such actions are wrong and worthy of the pit.
What stigma are you talking ‘bout?
Because engaging in prostitution is giving up, phoning it in, basically admitting you're desperate, unfit for, or can't handle a relationship. Maybe you're a socially awkward doofus with ZERO game.
On the flip side, with the rot of the 'social justice' movement and the way men are treated in divorce and family courts prostitution becomes a realistic, but still pretty sad alternative.
Watch the micro,-aggressions, bro.

Dumb post ^
Probably the best you could do, though. So, good job!

Or perhaps you have no interest in a "relationship". Or perhaps you are in a relationship but like the excitement of banging a prostitute. Or perhaps . . .
Or perhaps you don't have all the answers.
For many prostitutes their participation is not voluntary and the prostitute receives little to none of the money provided.
If the prostitute is not a willing participant, then that is rape, which I think any reasonable person would agree should be stigmatized.
Even if a particular instance is completely voluntary and fairly compensated, there are enough involuntary prostitutes to stigmatize any use of prostitutes.

**trying to recall how many wives and concubines Solomon had... and the "marital status" of certain prepubscent children in the other book...***
Oh, but actually they say it's wrong?
Okay.
You don't go "with" prostitutes any more than you go "with" your dentist. It's a commercial transaction, not a relationship. People go "to" prostitutes, with the exception of the times they're springing for an in-call.
Only in the states. Heck it’s legal in Canada and most every other country. Even those where it is ‘illegal’ it’s widely accepted and you won’t have any issues if you play by the rules.
Most of the men who see prostitutes are married men. It's a surprise to a lot of people but very true. You dont have to deal with your wife's BS this way. Perhaps this is part of the stigma behind it, because it is secretive and cheating. It is also so convenient that it is cheating in a sense, since you dont have to put in the work and time to get the girl. But I really dont get the people who stigmatize it either, most would probably have deeply entrenched issues to hate on somebody. Maybe they're too poor to afford it or feel trapped by a wife but dont want to violate the moral code yet wish they could somehow.

You mean the same despised ones you guys hacked your religion from?
Bloody hypocrite.
There was a day when STD's used to be called venereal diseases, and no serious man wanted to be related to that. So yes, that was part of the stigma too.
mods, please merge this with the "dating 2nd or 3rd cousins" thread and see what happens.
Why is there a stigma to anything?

Atheists I know all have better morals than Christians, Muslims etc

What is different to a woman marrying because of money/status etc....?

I think that you may cause and effect mixed up there.
Religious dudes brainwashed the masses thousands of years ago to believe that there is something bad about exchanging sex for money. With the stigmas and laws that followed, prostitution had to go underground. As a result, criminal elements play a huge role in the prostitution industry and drag many girls/young women in against their will.
Take the stigma and laws against it away and the unwilling participants will go to near zero.
