Last year in outdoor in middle school off of a consistent 10-15mpw from august-June i ran 5:24. In the spring it was mostly speed stuff and ladders that got me there. Also ran some 2:2x in the 800 a bunch. 400 speed then was probably 62 ish
Summer training was iffy
For 3 weeks in June i hit 20mpw
July i hit 15 ish with a lotta cross training
August jumped to 40 and have been hitting consistent 35s with rare exception to this day.
August i ran a 3k track time of 11:05
XC i ran 20 flat on a hard course and was disappointed as i wanted the season to go much better but sickness through off the hard workouts and races mid season
Right now, my last race is done. First indoor race is in 9 weeks.
My coach knows what he’s doing and develops great runners, lucky to run for a good program. I buy into his training, paces, workouts, and it feels good.
I just want that edge though. What separates the kids who improve slightly over the course of a few seasons to those who grow into being champions. I don’t mean genetics or that stuff, but what can i do to get that slight edge?
I got the basic, nutrition, core, sleep, etc.
My whole team does the same training just at different paces/milage, but what separates the kids who run 15s and 16s from those running 20s.
None of these 16 min guys ran much faster than me in 8th grade, what can i do to make sure i improve and succeed in track in the future
I feel like just training like every other athlete in the country does isn’t enough, i want to be great and im willing to put in everything, i just don’t know how.
Main focus for track is 1600
