i'm one of the guys that said 10 years ago that sub 2 hours is definitely possible, given a prime bekele and geb, and a couple of other guys, and to set up the drafting, with bigger guys, to 30k and let the race break out.
however, at the time i said that 200 high was possible much more than breaking 2 hours which requires everything to be perfect. bekele ran 201 but was worth 200 mid on the day. and this guy has to be 800 m worse than in his ultimate prime.
and they set it up, the program outlined so many years and got the 159, but the guy could have done close to 158 high, which does not compute into any equation or logic i am accustom to.
amazing or madness?
if they do full on PEDs, and the shoes, we're talking many guys running 201 and 202, with the WR under the 2 hour mark real soon.
really the writing was on the wall when steve jones ran the half in 101, in suboptimal fashion. way back in the day.
its a new era completely.
i may have to tune out.
