Could it be that easy he's been coached by JS last year? Is he on Strava to check his training?

Yeah, no.
"One day I was running with Eric Gillis [Olympian and one of Canada’s fastest-ever marathoners] in Guelph and he didn’t use pace on his watch so I took it off of mine as well. Removing pace was something that stuck.”
"So I took it off again. I don’t use pace now, I just go off of time and effort. And that was how I ran today. I didn’t have to watch so when I felt good, I continued to push.”
https://runningmagazine.ca/sections/training/why-trevor-hofbauer-races-without-a-watch/So much for coach JS and how he's all about exact paces and distances.
Very nice tailwind that year as well wrote:
Rodgers had a very nice tailwind that year as well, so it was like a 2:11:00 performance. Of course, he stopped to tie his shoes (twice?).
He stopped four times or more to drink water as well. He also was wearing shoes that wouldn't make the discount rack at Wal-Mart.almost

They said on the broadcast he's like 6'4 and I'm guessing he weighs at least 170.
That's damn skinny for 6'4. But it's very fast for someone that tall.
He needs to take a lesson in how to celebrate from Kemboi.
This reminds me of my countryman Kjell-Erik Ståhl who placed 4th in World Champs marathon 1983 at 2:10:38 ( Still a Swedish national record) . He never ran sub 29 min at 10000m and his best half I think was something like Hofbauers at 1:04- 1:05 . But Ståhl didn`t have this huge bettering of his PB in just very short time.
Re the new shoes. Would it be possible they would benefit a big guy like this more than the little runners. The science of them is ay beyond me but the impact force of a 78kg guy would be huge in comparison to a 50-55kg guy.
Of course that wouldn't explain all the improvement but if the shoes are typically worth say 90 secs but aid a big guy even more...

Fauble and Ward both ran faster this year. Where do you come up with this crap?
I come up with this crap from the Official IAAF list.
Not sure what list you’re looking at, but Fauble ran 2:09:09 at Boston and Ward also ran 2:09:25. So no, he didn’t run faster than all Americans this year besides Korir.
2019 thon hot takes:
-Sub 2 is the new world class elite thon reality
-Sub 2:05 is the new 2:10
-Sub 2:10 is the new sub elite 2:20
-Kilometer splits are the new mile splits
Better get that km higher and thon pace faster!
Levins only 2:15? Has he not gotten over his injury problems?

I hope that I am not telling you anything new if I tell you that Boston is not a legal course.
You will also note that Kipchoge’s 1:59:41 is also not legal.

bruhhhh ... Boston is a great marathon but not a legal course. Times don't count on the official IAAF lists.
Trevor has always been fast, he just didn't believe he could be a pro and never dedicated 100% from what I saw. I don't know him well but have met him. Super friendly, and a lot of fun to be around. Recently he decided to he had to see what he could do if he really committed. Seems like the answer is "quite a lot".
It always seemed he was wasting his talent. I'd be much more surprised if he is doping than I am by his time. Doesn't prove anything but you might want to give a guy the benefit of the doubt.
A lot of suspicious things about this performance. Just two months ago he got dropped hard in a race were he ran 66:40. Las month he got his wheels blown off in a 29:5x race.
This performance came out of literally no where. Nothing indicates that this was even in the realm of possibility. What's even more curious is this performance comes in the heels of a Canadian being announced as popping for EPO.

So, how many times was he tested in the year prior to Sunday? Two years prior?
Dude's a monster. Gotta be the hugest guy ever to run this fast. Gonna be following this guy for sure and fantasizing I can run this fast...since I probably weigh the same as him..

Honestly, probably not a lot if at all. He wouldn't be someone who would of raised suspicions enough to have anyone pull him out of competition and at most competitions it's random and the chances you get pulled are slim.
