The UM Athletics Department have to go along with NCAA rules. They have no choice in the matter. They will be sued otherwise. This is an NCAA matter, not UM's.

Someone changes their sex but wasn't born female.
A new transgender category for the NCAA is the way to go.
June is not a psycho. If I was her I would have no interest in showering with my teammates and I doubt if she does either. If she shared a room and did something lewd, her roommate would report it and June would be kicked off the team. If her teammates are uncomfortable sharing a room, the school would pay for a separate room. June isn't going to read some rule to the coach to force him to give her a roommate.

Relevant question - what is the lodging arrangement when Montana Griz are on the road?
Does Juniper get her own room? Does she bunk with head coach Clint May or assistant Maryn Lowry?
The lodging arrangement would be most telling whether Juniper is male or female.
Discus?
How is this even a question? She’s a female on the women’s team so she gets a room with another female on the women’s team.

He's not a woman. No amount of mental gymnastics from the Left will ever make this delusion come true.

Ummm. She has run multiple races on the women’s team. She’s a girl.
If you think it’s mental gymnastics to realize that the runners on the women’s team are women, then you clearly don’t understand the mind or gymnastics or metaphors.

The very first sentence of the article is incorrect. June did not run as a guy "just last year".

Gosh, Greg. You are a very angry young man.

Not at all. Look at the pattern of behavior on this site.
Someone is on me like a hawk at times.
I tell it like I see it.
They deserve it and I enjoy insulting them back.

Who is paying you to spread fake news? Jonathan did run in 2018 as a man.
The article is pretty interesting by the way. Some speculation that Jonathan might try to qualify for the Olympics.

*June.... I have no problem calling people by whatever name they want to be called. You can respect that at the least even if you don't think June is a woman. Some of you transphobes go overboard to the point of absurdity! there's no harm in calling them by their changed name.

No, she didn't compete last year because she had to complete 12 months of hormone treatments. She ran during 2017/2018 and skipped 2018/2019. In other words, she ran her first three as Jonathon, completed her 12 months of hormone therapy and is now a 5th year senior.
There has been a lot of speculation on LR that June is sandbagging so the guy in the article talking about June aiming for the Olympics doesn't bring anything new to the discussion. He seems to believe that the effects of hormone treatments will slow down June by less than 10 seconds over 1500.
An opinion article from OneNewsNow, which if it went any further right would be calling for its readers to bomb abortion clinics, kill Mexicans and Muslims, etc.? Man, do people end up with weird bedfellows when one of their pet hates align :)
I don’t know, dudes. June is dogging it to avoid negative attention, since placing second in that race and everything else she has done has only gotten her 15 pages on this thread (and at least two other additional threads)? Winning might have gotten her to 16 pages by now!
And she’s trying to avoid attention but will try to make the Olympic team? I suppose that makes sense, no one cares about the Olympics as compared to a regular season XC race among mid-majors!

Jonathan ran 3:53 in May 2018. That's last year.

*Jonathan. That's his official name. The name his parents gave to him. Let's respect their choice.
I'm a nice person, so in general I will call transgenders by their preferred name. However, I will only do this if the transgender is nice too.
I have two conditions:
- the transgender is not hurting other people
- I don't have to pay for his/her fantasies
Jonathan is hurting girls by stealing their scholarships, their awards, their medals... So there is no way I will give in to his demands. I don't know if he has planned any medically unnecessary surgeries for which the taxpayer has to bear the costs.
The moment Jonathan stops destroying girls' dreams , I will consider calling him June, Juniper or whatever other name he will invent.
You should read this article, the author explains it very well:
https://www.nationalreview.com/2019/10/rachel-mckinnon-is-a-cheat-and-a-bully/Rachel McKinnon — the so-called defending “world champion” of women’s track cycling — is a man. I’ll repeat that so my meaning cannot be misconstrued. He is a man.
Maybe my kind-hearted reader is offended by this blunt phrasing. Why am I calling McKinnon a man — when, perhaps for complicated reasons, he would rather be called a woman? Why don’t I compromise and call him a “trans woman,” as others do? Or be polite and address him by “she/her” pronouns, like everyone else in the media?
Well, I’ll tell you why, since you asked. This is precisely the well-meant, tragically naïve logic that has enabled a structure of lies and tyranny to be erected around us, a structure that most cannot opt out of without incurring an enormous social cost. It is a structure in which cheating and viciousness are rewarded while civility and truth-telling are punished. Rachel McKinnon is the perfect example of how this structure works and operates, as well as why we should resist it.
As it happens, I do not have an ideological commitment to gender terminology or pronouns one way or another. For struggling, respectful souls, I’m happy to lend special courtesies (in fact, I frequently do). But for cheats and liars, for bullies and tyrants, for those who seek to use my words to propagate deceit and injustice? Oh, just drop it, sir — I’ll never call you “ma’am.”

June should be lobbying for this. A slam-dunk NCAA title without any negative pushback and only accolades for being a pioneer.

Yes, she probably would medal in all events from the 100m to the 10000m, including hurdles and steeple.
RunRagged, I also want to thank you for going to the trouble of researching and posting the NCAA rules on this.
Not looking good for traditional females, as they have little say in this.
Anyone who says there should be a separate category for transgenders at track meets (actually that would require 2 separate categories). So 4 categories of 100 meters X 7 heats. You follow my drift? Don't volunteer (read - unpaid) officials spend enough time at track meets already?
WRONG... You can get your name LEGALLY changed through the court system. First name included.
