I was reading a story about Brigid Kosgei's return to Kenya and her coach was talking about how often she was tested before the race. I couldn't believe what I read.
The Daily Nation wrote:
Speaking during a press conference at Riadha House Wednesday after returning from Chicago on Tuesday night, her coach Eric Kimaiyo said Kosgei will never dodge any doping test.
“Brigid was tested six times before Chicago Marathon and before that, eight times ahead of London Marathon. She will never dodge a test. There are three times the anti-doping officials did not test her and they made a big deal out of it yet she was sick or had left the training venue when they arrived. Let them test her to the last minute. We are ready for the tests,” said Kimaiyo.
"There are three times the anti-doping officials did not test her and they made a big deal out of it"? Did he just admit that she missed three tests? I can't believe this wasn't followed up on. I've never heard of an athlete not being able to take a drug test because they were sick. And leaving the training venue -- we need more info about that. Was it during her one-hour window or not?
Does anyone know more about this? If you don't want to share publicly, please email me at

In the same press conference, Athletics Kenya president Jackson Tuwei also said "Kenyans remain the most tested athletes in the world."
