Hi - First Letsrun post fits in nicely with first attempt at the marathon next Spring. Current PB's 5km 17:51, 10km 37:50 which were both done earlier this year. I've also recently ran my first half marathon in 1:29:30 but with a less than ideal build up (not as much training throughout summer and more time spent drinking and eating too much). Anyway, the goal is to try and crack 3 hours for the marathon. Based on times over the shorter distances this year, am I being too ambitious. I appreciate there's a tonne of other sub 3 marathon posts on here but I wanted to start one myself. Currently averaging around 40 miles per week. I intend to up this but i'm basically after as much advice as possible on what to maximise my chances and interested in hearing from people who've been in a similar position and pulled it off. I'm 28 years and have been running on and off for the last 3-4 years, taking it a bit more seriously this year. I'm also hoping to PB at the other distances in various races leading up to the half.
