Cherono won two major marathons this year while Kipchoge only won once. The sub 2 was not a race. Same deal in 2017 when he did the sub 2 attempt. Track and Field News foolishly ranked Kipchoge #1 that year even though Geoffrey Kirui won two majors, Boston and Worlds. In fact, Track and Field News seems to have a love affair with Kipchoge as they ranked him #1 in 2014 over Wilson Kipsang, even though Kipsang won two majors and Kipchoge only won one (plus Rotterdam, not a major).
