I am a geology student, fairly new to exploring the great outdoors. I've gone on a few field trips that required a bit of hiking and relied on borrowing a pair of my friend's boots (also geology student), but we both are going on the same trip this summer to Arizona and New Mexico and will be visiting the Grand Canyon (my first time!!), Chaco Canyon, Meteor Crater, Shiprock in NM, and a few other geologic sites. The trip will be 15 days long, anywhere from 1-10 mile hikes every day. I would like to get them within the next couple weeks so I can break them in before I go on my trip this May. What kind of shoes should I be looking for and with what qualities? Where do you guys suggest I get my shoes? I also have a slight budget constraint; $200 or under is ideal (but you get what you pay for) but it can be a little more but closer to $200 than $250.
Thankyou everyone.
