If kosgei had run even pace maybe she had finished faster than Bernard lagat's.

Makes sense comparing a 44 year old middle distance runner just learning about the marathon to a 25 veteran marathon runner. What do you think Bernard would be running with 25 year old legs?

Lagat's two best events, 1500m and 5000m. Past 5000m, Lagat got significantly worse. Stating that an elite 1500m runner is not a great Marathoner is not news. Peak Marita Koch would have beaten Lagat at 400m. Is that news? Brigid Kosgei certainly would have beaten both Coe and Cram at 1/2 Marathon and maybe at 10 miles. There is not a man alive who is able to beat every elite woman 100m to Marathon. [Ovett may have been able to beat every elite woman, 200m to 1/2 Marathon. Even Ovett could not have beaten elite women at 100m & Marathon.]

So Kipchoge would be faster than 1.59 if he had 25 year-old legs? Same with 37 year-old Bekele of course. 1.55 if they were 25.

Lagat is still faster and he is improving a fair amount with each marathon that he runs - he is still very much a novice at the event. He could well run sub 2h 10 mins within the next year or so.
If Lagat is still in the lead pack at 20 miles in Atlanta, he will make the team.
