I'm keen to hear everybody's opinions on how key the tempo run is to achieving a sub 4 minute mile - and to what length the tempo should be extended.
Is 4 miles every single week too short? Does a 15/3k runner need to extend this out to say 5 miles and at what level of aerobic fitness in a tempo, (say 4 miles in 20mins) would suggest I'm ready to hit some specific mile prep work.
My current PBs are 1:51 800m, 3:45 1500m and 14:39 for 5000m -I'm fixated on breaking 4 in the mile at some point before I give it all up - this is not a troll attempt I'm really keen to hear peoples thoughts.
Any guidance would be appreciated, especially from Sub 4 milers and their historic experiences of the tempo!
