Anyone have anything new to report on her? Will she train and run only the Olympic Trials Marathon? She’s basically out of time to run a marathon before that. Maybe some indoor track racing? Seems risky though for her.

Way to start a post with a headline indicating that you are giving us an update on Gwen Jorgensen and then ask us for updates with nothing to share from you.
She's working hard to be the best mom to Stanley she can be. All the other stuff doesn't matter too much.

Update: she won’t go back to tri, because the training is super boring; staring at a black line with your head underwater.
Plus cycling means years of crashes, even for the pros.
Centro wants her to stay.
Does she have an OTQ?

The swim training is less than 20% of the training time for most pro triathletes. And it usually isn't boring, because it's almost always intervals, they don't usually do the equivalent of an easy run in their swim training.
There isnt an incentive to become better than your competitors at the swim, because then you'd be all alone on the bike and all the people behind you would catch you anyway because they're drafting. So you just need to be good enough to keep up with the back of the lead pack in the swim so you can use that draft on the bike.
Triathletes rarely crash in races because the groups are much smaller. The courses are also generally much more conservative than pro bike races. Triathletes also do a lot of brick training on trainers, so that reduces the crashing in training. Of course, none of that helps LV...
Gwen went all in on the marathon thing despite everybody outside her inner circle telling her it was a crazy idea. At this point, she presumably has been forced to admit her failure.
She probably just feels like she accomplished a gold medal in the tri, so feels there isnt anything left. Unfortunately she was too confident in her ability to take on a new challenge.
I still say she should have recognized that she ran a great 5k indoors and pursued that instead. Her ceiling seemed higher there. Plus it takes less time than marathon training and much less than tri training, more time with the kid or whatever.
Yes

Why so?

Jesse - you and I finally agree on something. I regret spending 4 hours a day on endless bike rides only to be followed by lengthy swims. All were boring. The only discipline I enjoyed was the running.
Did she win the big race yet?

I thought you weren't allowed to draft on a bike in triathlons? Did I miss something, or have the rules changed recently?
