Hi LRC,
I am a distance runner in college. 3 years ago, in xc, I developed a fibula stress fracture in my right leg running 40mpw and missed 3 months of running. I came back in spring track and significantly PRed in multiple events, running about 40 mpw again. Over the summer I bumped my mileage to 55 mpw and got fitter, but then got a stress reaction in my right tibia and missed 3 weeks of running during XC. Fast forward a year and after building to 60mpw, I got a significant stress fracture in my right tibia again, and missed 4 months. After building up to 50 mpw over the course of 3 months, I now have a stress fracture in my left tibia. Why do I keep getting injured? How can I stay healthy for a long period of time? I’ve tried following the 10% rule and taking a multivitamin, but obviously the problem hasn’t been solved. I am also 5’11, 132.
