I believe you are talking about Jared Ward who didn't run at Chicago. The Ward I am referring to is Taylor Ward the girl next to Sarah Sellers.

I think Stephanie Bruce wore the Hoka Carbon Rocket.

What a stunner.

Get over it dude, you act like these guys didn't bust their A** to get 4 and 5 minutes better in the marathon. The shoes didn't run 120 miles a week for them. The irony is, the people on this board throw a fit about how American men "just don't have it anymore", then when they suddenly do, you look for reasons why it can't possibly be because they deserve it and work hard.
This sounds just like Lance Armstrong when he was defending himself... "What am I on?? I'm on my bike five hours a day!!"

After seeing your post and digging around on Sellers instagram her and Ward were team mates in college. Furthermore, the 17th overall (9th American) also ran at the same college. Kinda crazy to see three former college teammate run that fast.
Yes, and all three are currently coached by Paul Pilkington who was their college coach. Lindsey Anderson is older than the other two and was an assistant coach at Weber State while the other two were there. She was on the 2008 Olympic team for the steeplechase.
"-thanks for the story! As a Michigan native I've always been biased towards Brooks. I remember buying the original Cheetahs at Wolverine's Discount store, "Little Red Shoe House" for $14!
What was your title at Brooks?"
I originally managed promotions/racing team/race sponsorship. then moved over to development and in 1990 moved to Asia to help set up an office and dev team in Taiwan for Brooks. worked with several different companies since then but, unfortunately, not on running product in recent years. Still in China making shoes but getting closer to retirement ;-)

Tuned indoor tracks (Harvard, BU, etc.) deliver a proven 2-3% improvement in speed (not abstract oxygen consumption). Should we ban those too?
Of course not. Everyone in the race gets to run on those tracks. Not everyone gets to run in Vaporflys (Vaporflies?)
What do you mean? Anyone can go the store and buy a pair of vaporflys...

Who the heck is Jarod Word?
I was watching the race around the 40k mark and it's impossible to predict just how many of the total finishers were wearing a Vaporfly/Next Percent. Did it look like a lot because they are flashy colorways, or was it really a substantial number of the finishers--from elites even to the back-of-packers.
I would love to see two things:
1. Shoe count for the top, say, 100 runners. Who was the first non-4%-or-competitor-product wearer?
2. Shoe count for the whole race
What running nerds out there are working on this?! Keep me informed.
Went to an event recently and met a lot of the top American men and women. In attendance were:
- Jake Riley
- Jerrol Mock
- Parker Stinson
- Noah Droddy
- Alex Monroe
- ? Another sub 2.15 guy
- Laura Thweatt
- Lyndsay Flanagan
- Jen Bergmann
All said they were wearing a Nike 4% or equivalent prototype shoe (mostly Saucony), except for Lindsay Flanagan. Interesting as she wears Nikes but she made some comment that "it's not about the shoes". It'll be interesting to see what Flanagan wears for the trials.
What stopped Mizuno from sending racing flats over from Japan?
This ‘Mizuno US-line’ is a cop out. Mizuno makes racing shoes in Japan. Bottom line is the two ATC runners think Mizuno shoes suck.
