I heard the course was short.
?
You can measure it yourself pretty accurately on Google Earth. Only question is where exactly they put the start/finish, I didn't watch the race so not sure if there are enough landmarks to figure that out.
Vehicular measurement, 3D model ... the usual stuff.
Probably not much need for the new measurements, anyway, aside from the turning points. The markers along the course have a reputation for being precise (unlike others in the city).

Someone's making stuff up ...
Ma Junren?
I overheard a couple Ethiopian guys chatting about it...

I think the London Marathon organizers set everything up.

Don't you have anything better to do on a Saturday than to make stuff up and post it here?

I doubt the course was short. They changed it slightly from the map on the Ineos website, by starting at the Reichsbruecke, so that he would have a downhill start. Then it was run in the Hauptallee, which is flat. And one of the turns was banked.

He was cycling along the course and was even namechecked on the broadcast, poor effort from Letsrun here.
Hugh was one of the two IAAF Level "A" measurers who measured the course. The other was from Austria. Hugh then road along (as he usually does) during the race to observe that Eluid ran the course that was measured.
Hugh was the official road course measurer for the 2000 Olympics in Sidney as well as part of the measuring team for every Olympic Games since 1996....one of the best in the world.
Mr Katz, was there a "blue line" I didn't notice? Seemed like they were running in a zone. Where was the inner boundary? Seems like Kipchoge would have wanted to stay on a definite line of shortest distance. I realize you didn't measure but figure you'd have the scoop if anyone.
Thanks

Most of it was a straight line lane, when they went around the roundabouts he ran the line of shortest distance of the lane as that was where the course was measured.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
