Bekele and Kipchoge are the greatest distance runners of all time. No contest.
GOAT? He can't even break 12:40 for 5k and 26:30 for 10k.

Go away hasbarat. We know what you're really up to. Go try and figure out a way to cheat math exams, since you guys have seen your grades and test scores crater 20 years ago and haven't been able to keep the myths alive any other way than via your media. Others won't get this, but you do. lol
Most of us love Kipchoge, what he has done, and is still doing. However there must be perspective here. By their own words, at the very inception of this project, INEOS freely admitted that this was a special project, not a race as per the accepted rules. Situations like this have occurred before. Gatlin comes to mind, running 9.45 with a big fan behind him in Japan. There was no suggestion after the fact that 9.45 made him the fastest human ever. Even Gatlin himself was quite humble, afterwards paying tribute to Usain Bolt's world record of 9.58
The challenge we are now having, is the sudden change, where this is now being presented to the public as a Roger Bannister, Mt Everest or Moon landing moment. If I rig a football game to get a quarterback to throw 20 touchdowns, do I get to scream about the greatest Quarterback ever throwing the most touchdowns in a game? I find no fault in Kipchoge. The problem is all the people around him creating the hyperbole. They are all thieves stealing, the deserved thunder from the guy that breaks two hours in a race done according to the rules: pacemakers cannot come into the race at any time; a runner cannot be handed beverages, energy gels and bars; At least three people who started, must finish; no motorized vehicle can pace; drug testing after the race; certified officials; certified course; certified clock; and shoes certified as legal.
Dr Bannister ran sub 4 in an actual race according to the rules. Please, can we all not besmirch his name and legacy by calling his name in association with this event. Thank you!

Why do people give Bekele so much love now-adays? He isn't that good, 2 seconds off of Kipchode's old PR but with the new 1:59:40 world record, Bekele should be considering a move up to ultra-marathoning now.
He's never going to be able to hit Kipchode's 4:34/mi world record pace.
I am predicting he'll switch to the Hoka Cliftons and max out at 7:30/mi pace like the rest of Hoka's athletes.

I was waiting for Kipchoge to trip and fall during one of the risky captain transitions.
Would've loved to see Bekele come out of no where from the back and take over the race, proving only he could do what Kipchoge failed to do in Monza 2.5 years ago.
Who took second?
Who did Dr banister actually race that day? 6 people started but he wasn't racing anyone just the clock. and his pacemakers helped
Why didn't they let the white guys run the whole thing?

I'd agree- except PED. Marion Jones went her career w/o testing positive either.
