God, even by LetsRun's shitty journalistic standards this thread is a mess.
I'm 35 and have been running fairly competitively for the past 23 years. I work in run specialty and consider myself a relatively in touch and informed part of the running community.
All of that being said. I talk to my coworkers, the people that I train with, and even in some cases the people that come into the store (joe shmoe runner himself) and I don't know a single person who actually thinks Galen Rupp isn't some sort of fraud.
They either don't know who he is (which is honestly 90% of these people) or they happen to follow the sport relatively closely and have become aware of Galen (and in some cases Salazar). It turns out that if you don't have some weird preconceived notion about Nike/Galen superority it is relatively easy to connect the dots on this one. Galen IS A CHEATER, HAS BEEN A CHEATER, and pending his predictable dropout in Chicago, seems poised to BE A CHEATER for the his entire professional career.
I find it genuinely sad that "fans" of American distance running on this board seem so eager to try and keep this freak clean when it is oh so abundently obvious that he is exactly the person who stands to benefit from Al Sal's doping regime.
It's truly sad. It beg's the question (at least to me) are these the same idiots who don't believe in evolution? I mean seriously how dense can people actually be before it becomes either sad or suspicious?
So go ahead Nike PR folk keep posting away I guess?
