You're aware that Ineos is sponsoring this right? And that in terms of revenue, Ineos far-outstrips Nike, despite being privately owned right?
You understand that your way of putting people down identifies you as a pompous ass, right?
The buffoon I'm quoting deserves nothing more than a delivery from a pompous ass.
1) He is actively rooting for someone to fail.
2) He appears to be unaware of the fact that Nike did not even sponsor this event.
That being said, Nike is the best thing to happen to T&F since its founding. There is, bluntly speaking, absolutely NOTHING holding the sport together in the US except Nike. They sponsor the most athletes, they fund USATF, and in general, they put in FAR more than they can expect in returns. Track and Field is an absolute charity case. Just look at the Diamond League.
As the Golden League, they went through 3 sponsors. As the Diamond League, Samsung is gone, and they're now replaced by a Chinese conglomerate. Notably, Nike pays USATF $20 million a year. In contrast, the IAAF is given $10 million a year by Wanda for the entire Diamond League. Let that settle in, Nike gives more just to fund the USATF than the entire Diamond League has received. Why? Because the executives at Wanda KNOW not to expect any particularly notable returns from the Diamond League. It's a small and relatively high risk investment. It's either the sport gets tons of exposure in China, and they profit, or the sport falls flat as expected, and their down a relatively small amount of money.
The sport is utterly dead, and is propped up by charity, yet all the bozos on this board do is complain about it.
