I don't know if you're being facetious with the "great news" subject line, but I personally think it is in fact a great move and would be on board with all schools, including my children's, doing this. Social media and education is a disastrous combination.
So if my kid didn’t have a cell phone, I’d have to buy them one just so they could surrender it before each school day. Dumb idea.
Excellent step, something France already did. Parents should follow suit.

Dont the majority of public schools already have a "cell phones must be in your backpack during class" policy? My friend who is a high school teacher said when kids break that policy, he takes their phone away for the remainder of the day.
I just assumed that was already the policy. It seems like a reasonable policy with less logistics than taking them all away at the start of each day.
