I have developed a sensitive Achilles 10 days before I am due to run a marathon. It not hugely painful (feels more like nerve pain than soreness) but it does twinge occasionally when I'm at rest and when I catch it on the wrong position. I have seen my physio who seemed unconcerned as there is no swelling, stiffness and I can raise up onto my toes without pain. Despite this it feels at the minute as though I cannot run on it and am seriously considering dropping out. The only thing I can think that may have caused it is that I recently started using new shoes (an updated model of my current shoes) which do have a slightly lower back and are slightly looser so I was wondering if this may have dug into my Achilles (have only worn them for 2 short runs- problem developed the day after the second run). Was just wondering if anyone had experienced anything similar or had any advice?
