Hey, so who here is racing this weekend's Chicago Marathon? How is the weather report shaping up? Heard it's 80 one day and 30 the nest. Any tips for newbies? Post it here.

Racing it also, temps look good, but wind looks like it will be annoying.
43 at the start
48-50 at the finish.
Sunny but as you say a 19 mph wind out of the southwest.
At least as of now it won’t be in our face at the end.
Perfect temps, but now showing wind gusts.
Where’s a bigger dude running a 3:35 for me to draft behind?
Looking to run 3:45. A simple question for the pro's : is it best to start on the right side or on the left side ? I noticed the elite field starts on the right side.

I don't think it really matters. The first two turns are left, the next two are right. Assuming you're in corral C or D (or even B), you're going to be around lots of other people and not running tangents through that section anyway.
oops i meant 2:45, I'm in Corral A.

Ah, me too.
I ran from A last year too, mid-corral, no real attempt to get near the front. But I think the same, it doesn't really matter. The road splits shortly after the start, and then comes back together before going over the river. But I don't think one side is longer than the other, and everyone's back together before the first turn. In A, at 2:45 pace, there are plenty of people but I think still more than enough room to pick your line/side and run the tangent/blue line.
okay, thanks ! Will just place myself where I can find some room then. Good luck to you !
Is it worth it to run to the other side of the bridges to run on the carpet/mat thing (if it’s on the opposite side from where you are) or is it fine to just run over the grid part without tripping?
Rainy wet and humid. Wind gusts of 20 mph. Bummer! #SAD

Run on the carpet. It will cover most of the road. You shouldn’t have to go far out of your way. If you get stuck on the grate it’s not going to trip you but will be uncomfortable and slippery when wet.
