Agreed.
Admittedly, Cram wasn't expected to do more than make the final and it was considered an amazing achievement at the time (and I'm sure both Coe and Ovett knew that he'd be breathing down their necks very soon).
Jakob really did as well as anyone could realistically hope, except that he perhaps should have beaten Lewendowski (although he had beaten Jakob twice last season and was clearly improving fast as a 1500m runner). Big Mac finding that kind of form after nearly 3 years out is just a mockery of the sport.
Pretty sure Jakob would have gotten at least bronze if he hadn't ran the 5000m.
I posted in the Doha predictions thread that it would be an amazing performance if Jakob won one medal.
Remember that up until Monaco last year, I was being mocked by the likes of 'ex-runner' for claiming that Jakob would be one of the favorites for gold in Tokyo.
