Steve Magness is "not even a real athlete" HAHAHA
I enjoyed the interview.
I think another interview needs to be done. No one has asked the obvious question during this scandal. Here are my questions for Kara.
1) What did she see in April 2011 and at the end of 2011 Worlds that made her leave the team? Is that mentioned anywhere? I believe it was IVs and what not but am not sure if that's in the public record. To me this is big. Where is it stated what she saw?
2) She was in the group for 7 years and says she never doped. What would she say to those who say, "Then isn't it possible that Rupp has done the same thing - never dop?" . I mean the thing that is logically hard for some to understand is she was in the group for al ong time and says she never knowingly cheated.
Here is another article on Kara:
Just curious about it wrote:
Does she say in the article if she’s going to give back the silver medal she won and disavow the many PR’s she clocked while under Salazar. How about Adam, was his career just a sham or if not then how do they determine which athletes at NOP they will assume are guilty and if so why those athletes but not Adam & Kara or Brown’s patient Simpson and Magness.
Clearly didn't read the article...

It's all so vague, I just find it crazy this has been going on so long and he's been banned for "breaking rules" no athletes banned for doping. All I hear is "shady stuff" and "They can't run that fast"..... When this dropped a few years ago, my thought was ok this is going to be like Balco or Armstrong.... yet all we have here is some shady stuff, that cannot conclusively be argued is doping by him or NOP athletes.
Every single comments on instragram reads
“ you’re amazing and my hero!”
They’re all running moms
Ehh
One thing I wonder -
I keep seeing “doping” and “performance enhancing” as terms thrown about all over these boards.
If we take the findings of the USADA report as gospel (i.e don’t infer that Salazar and NOP were doing worse than was laid out in the ruling), what exactly was Salazar doing that was performance enhancing?
1) Giving athletes l-carnitine. Did he break an anti-doping rule here? Yes: he administered an illegal volume of injection. Is L-Carnitine performance enhancing? There certainly isn’t good evidence to say it is and WADA doesn’t seem to think so.
I would also point out that Magness is basically irrelevant as an athlete in this scenario, but it seems likely that other NOP athletes received a similar drip given the falsified records.
2) The testosterone thing.
If we take the USADA report at face value, Salazar was administering a banned substance with the goal of seeing whether his athletes could be tampered with. In other words, he was not administering
This seems really fishy to me, but then again, so does “ I ate tainted beef”, “ I kissed a prostitute with cocaine on her lips”, “and I bought penis enlarging pills online”.
What Salazar seems to really be guilty of is falsifying records and using illegal routes of vitamin administration (which were not made illegal to prevent the administration of vitamins). I’m not opposed to a ban for this, but I think the board and athletics community has to collectively ask them selves: “why am I so quick to villify Salazar over other players in our sport?” And “why do I take such joy in this?”

Most everyone here defending Salazar and NOP claim Goucher was cheating when running for NOP and coached by Salazar.
Things that make you go hmmm.
No kidding! The Nike troll hypocrites aren't smart enough to figure that one out. YOU CAN'T DEFEND SALAZAR AND THE NIKE OREGON PROJECT AGAINST DOPING ALLEGATIONS, and then accuse the Goucher's of being dopers. YOU IDIOTS!

Take a look at the original accusations and insinuations by Goucher and Magness. Now take a look at the actual violations. Looks like they made a bunch of crap up. That's what I have a big problem with.
Do you also think Al Capone was an above-board business man who simply forgot to pay his taxes?
Don't even know why Kara is given the heroic title of a "whistleblower". All she said was that Alberto suggested her to take thyroid medication to lose weight. Whilst this might not be right it is hardly breaking news. This whole thing is taken completely out of proportion in my opinion.
Thanks Kara. Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla

Add:
1) were exemptions for sanctioned offered in exchange for information given to USADA .
2) Why was the FBI involved , and why chose the FBI as first contact instead of USADA or WADA.
1) Magness and Goucher apparently both have Hashimoto's. What a coincidence.
2) Magness introduced Salazar to Brown. Magness was Brown's patient in 2002 or so when he dropped about 18s off his 1600 PR.
3) Carl Lewis (on staff with Magness) is also a former client of Brown.
4) Magness is currently dating one of his athletes, so whoever said that earlier in the thread is funny and dead on.
5) Magness needs to stop giving life advice on Twitter and start working on recruiting skills.
And by dating athletes - one of his post collegiate athletes. Not collegiate.
Does this mean Mark Wetmore is also implicated?
what do you believe? wrote:

Sorry, not to be prickish, but I don't understand what you mean, can you please restate it?
What do you believe in terms of what is a performance enhancing drug? If you research the question as a question and not a preconceived belief, you will be amazed at your own gullibility and culpability in the 'drug problem'.
Sorry, I'm not that bright and still don't really understand what you are asking. I'll try anyway - that's a tough one. I suppose I have two views: I think that the professional track athlete is aware (or should be) of what they cannot do regarding drugs, PEDs, whatever else you might call them and will suffer whatever consequences should they take something and get caught. For myself, a 55 year old guy who likes to run, my standards are a bit lower. I like pot, it's legal in my country so I indulge from time to time. I suppose my 1:23 1/2 marathon is suspect then, but I cannot imagine anyone cares at all, it's simply not that fast. I support the sport and give back in ways and therefore think I can be easy upon myself.
As per my culpability in the drug problem, I suppose that some races I've attended would have payed the athletes - I was at a meet in 2009 featuring Bolt amongst others. Being as I paid for my ticket does that mean that should any of those athletes have been dopers, was it my fault? I'm really sorry, if that's the case! As per my gullibility, I'd admit to that too! As a child my dad would convince me of the most insane things, it took years before I realized that some of them were not true.
Sorry I didn't really follow what you mean. As per the article, I really enjoyed it and despite what so many others imply or outright believe concerning athletes that they think have doped, I admit I'm much more liberal and do not like to paint broad brush strokes. Honestly I just want to continue to enjoy the sport, I'm bummed when people get busted but otherwise don't let myself get hung up on it.
How can Kara claim to be a whistleblower when she performed no such role, not even the remotest sense of the word?
She only said things like "The truth will come out, you will see", which while somewhat salient, leaves a great deal of the "whistleblower" role up to 3rd parties.
She mentioned there is a problem, but left out the how/what/specifics/individuals/roles or any relevant details.
Thats not how whistleblowing works. Thats how being a drama queen works. Whistleblowers provide evidence.
*provide evidence or make actual allegations, not waving of hands and talking around an issue waiting for others to do the work of whistleblowing/investigating
Rojo, have you listened to the clean sport podcast yet? It's over an hour long and its with both adam and kara. Listened to it a bit, and its waaaay more detailed than any of the articles. Not done yet but she may be addressing your questions soon,

I'm going to link it below. They discuss the "inner ring" of Galen, Darren and Alberto, as well as their disappointment with Nike CEO Mark Parker. They discuss how it was Galen Kara was told to go ask for Cytomel. They also discuss how when Kara got pregnant, Mo joined and things at NOP to a huge turn for the worse. It's really interesting.
