I'm currently in HS running xc and trying to break a 19:30 5k. I was hoping I could have have some good workouts because I've really been struggling to cut my time down. I'm currently at 20:00:15 5k and my mile time for last yr spring track was 5:15. I come from a long distance background, having run a half marathon (1:54) and a full marathon (4:09) but can't seem to break 19:30. I wanna know if someone can help answer the following, do I need to focus on my speed training or my endurance training or both, how long and fast my continuous runs should be, and how long should my long runs should be. If I could get any good sample workouts or a training plan, that would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
