you've always got the BART path, that's where the UC Berkeley guys frequently can be seen slogging out digits.
running down by the bay front on that trail is ok too, for a time.
if you can stomach occasional hills, up in Tilden along inspiration pt (Nimitz way) is somewhat hilly.
you've also got Lake Merritt in Oakland.
it's rough going if you want to find flats in Berkeley. just accept the hills man, they like, make you stronger, man
The wildcat creek trail in tilden/wildcat canyon is fairly flat too (some rollers)
Most of the good unpaved routes the bay area are pretty hilly. One of the best/most convenient runs near Cal is up the fire trails near Strawberry Canyon where you go basically from the pool to Lawrence Berkeley Lab (you can even extend into Tilden if you want), but that is basically straight up and straight down save a couple miles at the top. From bottom to the lab it's ~8 miles.
As far as flat runs go near Berkeley, here are some pavement options:
1) The Berkeley Marina/Bay Trail/Aquatic Park (pavement). Super flat, did a lot of tempo runs and workouts on this. If you want a longer run you can hook it up to go over the Bay Bridge, which is also pretty flat. Emeryville/West Berkeley in general is pretty flat.
2) The Ohlone Greenway goes through El Cerrito/Albany and starts in Berkeley. It's incredibly boring and the foot traffic is bad during the morning when people are commuting on BART, but it's super flat
3) Lake Merritt in Oakland
As far as soft surface trails go, someone else mentioned Wildcat. The fireroad in Wildcat is mostly fairly mild rollers (by Bay Area standards at least), and it's a pretty nice easy run. I think they've put in some gravel recently to keep it from getting as sloppy when it rains.
Another option that is truly mild rollers but paved is the out and back on Nimitz Way in Tilden. It's a beautiful 8 mile run, and none of the hills are too severe.
