I firmly believe Hassan is a doper and Simpson is not, but I agree that after being so outspoken about this Simpson really needs to explain her connection to Brown or she will lose all her credibility.

Wow, you can tell that the Dr. Brown question was quite a kick to the liver for her. She instantly went from outspoken badass to slippery politician. She was visibly still reeling for the rest of the interview. What a hypocrite.

Stop playing games. There's no way you or anyone else trying to defend Simpson would be willing to make this argument in favor of any of the NOP athletes.
Anyone who takes objection to wanting to get all the facts before making a decision is not a good person.
Don’t tarnish all Democrats just because most are like this.

Close the TUE Loop hole as of now.
There was some discussion that USATF and IAAF built the loophole and pushed doctor Brown?
It's unethical to the bone. Tie it with allowing all these lame excuses for positives and you have de-facto sponsored doping.
Athletes have been going there for a long time because he was always very quick in diagnosing certain illnesses...

Regina Jacobs, age 33 - PR 4:00.35
Hmm...

+1. Nice work brojos! And it seems like those who do a little too much finger wagging (eg Paula and now Jenny) are not quite as innocent as they want everyone to believe.
I smell a dirty Rat(cliffe) here.
Both 10/10 on the accusatory scale of others, 0/10 on themselves.
This is a red herring to distract from Alberto Salazar and his athletes.

Hmmm, so the Brojo's who have been after AlSal and NOP for years, ask their man to question Simpson about seeing Dr Brown (and all she had to say was yes or no) and you think it's a " red herring to distract from Alberto Salazar and his athletes".
So who would be orchestrating this "red herring to distract"?
4. Dr Brown is not in power to issue a TUE. He can give a patient a prescription, of course, but it’s up to USADA or WADA to grant a TUE if I’m not mistaken.
Maybe the rules have changed recently, but last I had heard you don’t need a TUE for an inhaler or thyroid medication.
I’m anti NOP but I actually don’t think this is a big deal.
Dr. brown saw A LOT of the top runners. I know for a fact that USATF and the USOC training centers referred athletes to Dr. Brown.
He was THE guy to go to. That doesn’t mean all these athletes were cheating.
I don’t have my copy of Running With The Buffaloes handy, but I think Brown was mentioned in that book as someone almost all endurance athletes based in Boulder in the mid to late 90s saw for treatment at one point or another.
So I am not surprised that any former Colorado runner would have seen him.
So your saying Simpson is part of the problem, but points fingers at others.

Emma Coburn is also on thyroid meds. Maybe you should ask her, rojo. Everyone is working at least the grey zone.
Wait, what? Is this confirmed? TUE?

Guys, Jenny is a sick athlete. She has been suffering her whole life with an undisclosed family issue that has severely affected her health as a professional athlete. She's had to be on corticosteroids since high school, using an inhaler every day of her life, allegedly.
Keep asking her these questions. She will be investigated.
I'm not defending Simpson here, I found her answer on the Dr Brown stuff unconvincing.
However, as someone who actually has asthma and uses an albuterol inhaler before every run I'd just like to point out that as far as I know they've done multiple studies and none have shown a performance boost from using one. Asthma causes your airways to tighten up and all the inhaler does is allow your airways to function like a normal person. I think they actually recommended that people without asthma not use them.
Gotta say, I'm getting pretty annoyed with all theses people with their bogus TUEs for inhalers, making it look like it's some suspicious gray area thing. Some of us actually need these inhalers to breathe properly, and I know I wouldn't be able to lead an active life without it.

Correct. It also doesn't mean if you are a NOP athlete you are cheating.

Yes you do need a TUE for both inhaler or thyroid medication!
I don’t get it; didn’t you just answer your own question?

Actually, I think Alberto/Nike spent hundreds of thousands -- if not more -- defending their actions and Alberto was banned for conduct that was not found to have provided an illegal performance enhancement for any "athlete" not named Steve Magness. [Please read the transcript.]
Incidentally, Houston-native Magness was a 4:17 high school miler that became a great 4:01 high school miler. Curiously, he was a patient of Dr. Brown in high school.
After watching the Simpson interview, a follow up question should be: Do you think Galen Rupp's medical history should be secret?
Isn't every high school 4:01 miler a former 4:17 miler?
Steve Ovett ran 4:00.0 in his first mile race at 17 years old.

Yes you do need a TUE for both inhaler or thyroid medication!
I agree that the system obviously has folks taking advantage of and gaming the system, but this is patently false. Athletes do not need a TUE for thyroid medication.
