Amazing race and run :) Can't wait to see these two battle it out over the next few years.

what a bunch of CRAP, honestly.
why are you absolutely favoring McLaughlin over Muhammad?? She is also an American athlete who, right now, is the BEST of the world at her event; proved it at the trials and now at worlds. Muhammad is indeed an amazing 400m hurdler and deserves more recognition that just three words in your whole statement. pathetic.
Calm down Margaret. There are many fans of Sydney that are rooting for her.
I am mildly rooting for Muhammad just because McLaughlin has been so hyped and will have more time to succeed later (God willin'), but it's nothing personal.

My wife asked if Sydney has more than .07 worth of make-up on.

What?! Lmao. Have you never thought that people may have there favorites for whatever reason? As long as USA wins, and they did, then what does it matter who this person is rooting for?
And it looks like he just spoke the truth. Sydney needs to get her hurdle form down pat a lil bit better then she will break the WR. She has better speed. Congrats to Muhammad. Honestly they BOTH need each other if we're talking about wanting to see them chase records and get the absolute most out of their bodies. That's what I want to see anyway. You think Muhammad runs that time with Syd or vice versa? No. Ya gotta have someone to push yourself against.
Muhammad is the stud right now tho.
Personally I think Sydney could get herself in a little better shape. Just by looking at her she's no where near as ripped or cut as many of the other sprint athletes. Needs to get in the WR and get her diet right. Still hasva lil baby fat on her. Which makes her super hot lol but not the best thing in this sport.
She also stumbles on the Hurdle coming off the turn that crushed her momentum and I'm convinced running 400h the further outside lane draw you get the better. Far easier to jump over hurdles in lane seven than in day four.
There's a reason Warholm loves lane seven.
Great run for both
Dang third from the last hurdle coming off the turn killed Sydney. Looks like she just got her stride screwed up and ended up having to take some baby steps then hurdling it with her other leg.
Plus in the replay you can see how much higher she jumps over the hurdles than Muhammad. Muhhamad is a tactician. While Sydney is still learning.
If Sydney can stay hungry, hopefully with Muhammad so they can push each other, should have 51 in the bag. Just needs to not jump so high and not have a misstep on a hurdle.
Great race tho. Great day for team USA.
Real question is should both of them be on the 4x400? I think so.

Great race, both women are so easy to root for and both so well spoken. Can we possibly se a sub 52 next year?
yes.
51.99 equiv of a open 400m in 47.82 Amazing.
Great race for sure now just wondering what people think they could cover 800m in? Edwin Moses ran 1:48.98 back in 1983. It would be interesting to see these two race at 800m
Is it just me or does it seem like Sydney McLaughlin is a little bit worse over the hurdles than Dalilah Muhammad? She jumps a bit higher and doesn't land quite right, no? I think with a bit of technique improvement the WR might be hers pretty soon...

No question. Sydney managed very few hurdles perfectly today. She semi-chopped several early in the race then got in trouble on 8. That ended up not only left legged but with a bent knee. Sydney had the deficit and needed to explode off that hurdle. Instead Muhammad gained slightly more advantage and there simply wasn't enough time.
Sydney is always great at about 6 and 7. That was again the case today. I think she was shocked at how far ahead Muhammad was coming around the turn and that contributed to screwing up 8.
Regardless, I was very surprised that Sydney was favored in that race, and by considerable margin at -200 odds. Muhammad was +160. Of all the numbers I have seen at this event, that may have been the strangest. I took some advantage but should have wagered more than I did.
Did it really seem likely that McLaughlin would have a 3-1 season edge over Muhammad? That's what the betting odds suggested. A 2-2 split makes a heck of a lot more sense. During the 24 years I lived in Las Vegas it was often beneficial to apply simple criteria like that instead of nitpicking every detail.
Besides, I'm convinced Dalilah Muhammad simply had more tenacity and anger today than Sydney McLaughlin could ever summon. Sydney is a nice girl. Muhammad represents the B**** Mode wing of American female hurdling. I'm not referring to Beast Mode. Never deny or underestimate that B**** Mode wing. I absolutely guarantee that Dawn Harper-Nelson and all the prior members of the B**** Mode wing were beyond desperate for Muhammad to prevail today. They wanted no part of Lolo Jones and now they want no part of Sydney McLaughlin. Pure fear. If we think you're a diva and didn't follow the same path we did, then get the heck out of here.
Muhammad revealed her true colors after the world record race earlier this year, when she obviously made mean spirited dismissive remarks to Sydney during the post race interview with Lewis Johnson. Sydney said she was, "So happy for her..." regarding Muhammad breaking the world record. As soon as Muhammad heard that she couldn't contain her B**** Mode animosity toward Sydney and it turned into an awkward moment. Too bad it wasn't fully captured on live microphone and video but there was enough to easily piece together how it played out. I detailed it here.
Muhammad now realizes that it not the look she wants to present to the American public. She has toned it down for camera. And I think today's outcome will actually bring the two of them closer together. That happens sometimes. I have seen it during LPGA golf when a tight outcome in a major or the Solheim Cup creates mutual respect, even from women who have long resented each other. In this case Sydney has never had ill will toward Muhammad. But there has been that B**** Mode wing pressure on Muhammad to disrespect Sydney.
Even today after the result the two of them were hardly holding the flag side by side and posing for the cameras. That would be normal if they were friendly, after a 1-2 finish. Compare to Coburn and Frerichs in 2017.
But eventually they did start walking around together. I think today will be the first time the rivalry changes somewhat...not as resentful from Muhammad. But notice they did not do the typical 1-2 side by side interview with Lewis Johnson. Still some iciness there. Muhammad wanted her moment solo.
There were no disparaging comments, you literally made up all of that drama over 2 seconds of inaudible offscreen post-interview audio.
Which is here:
https://youtu.be/ZdfDJN4sPbI?t=467
if you aren't an insane conspiracy theorist you see Sydney say "I am happy for you! Oh my god!" with a smile on her face, reacting to the WORLD RECORD, I think Dalilah was surprised at the support.
Dalilah is by far the superior hurdler, she's the best technician ever on the women's side over 400h, but I think McLaughlin will have the WR when all is said and done.
sorry 7:40 for timestamp.

Stop being a dick.
These two great athletes are at different stages of their development. McLaughlin will be the next one to break the world record. She is still learning. And she almost pulled it off today.
Its Muhammad's year. A fearless run from her. McLaughlin hasn't found her limits yet

She had a bad second or third hurdle where she ran up a little close. It doesn't seem much but when a WR is on the line its enough
Running sprint wrs at the same age as Flojo. Nothing to see here.
Every world record is a victory for doping these days.
In their defense, at least they were both winded to hell after the race, as was Gardiner, and WVN before him.
Unlike Ackbar.
I don’t particularly like either one of them, especially Muhammad, but IMO there needs to be more before the dope card can be played.
No doubt McLaughlin will get the WR if she stays healthy and fit. Her hurdle form, meh. She should do more open 400’s.
And what a great run by the Colombian guy, passing a faltering Kerley at the finish.
