By a ton!! And 100K richer!
52.16
New World Record 52.16 For Mohammad and 52.23 for Sydney
Damn! 5 more meters and its a dead heat. Fantastic performances.
What a sick race. Too bad the NBCSN announcers butchered the call of it. Talking over each other, not anticipating the WR.
Also why don't they have the WR graphic on the screen? I loved it as sa kid when you'd see the WR at the bottom so you know what to be looking at.
Delilah improves her time staying #1 AT.
Sydney pops up to #2 AT.
Muhammad 52.16
McLaughlin 52.23
0.04 s is a ton?

And I guess the European contingent thinks highly of Lewandowski because of his continental success. Have yet to see medal quality on the world stage.
No, we think highly of him because he is unique in the 1500m. There is no one else who has close to 47s 400m FAT speed, the Ingebrigtsens struggle to get sub 50. Lewandowski comes out of nowhere in races and suddenly is in front, in Berlin last year he was last place 200m before the finish, then unleashed an absolute killer kick to finish 2nd and almost got J Ingebrigtsen.
Lewandowski always is a big threat in races, especially now since he dropped his 1500m PR down to 3:31. This forces other runners like J Ingebrigtsen and T Cheruiyot to keep the pace fast and honest from the start, they don't want to end up with a fresh 11 low/47s/1:43 guy on the home straight, they wanna run him into the ground with a fast first lap which is Lewandowski's big weakness (that's why he always stays at the very end in the beginning).

Definitely the most excited I've been for a women's 400h race.
And I had reason to be. What a race.
Bummer, really wanted Sydney to beat her and get the WR. So close.

This, and women's 400 without hurdles have been the best races in the games so far.

McLaughlin is talented and pretty, but no personality.
Oh no, she has tons of personality, she is just very intense anywhere near a track, and very perfectionist. I think if and when she can relax a bit, she will take down Delilah.

Lets be honest. You want Sydney to win and get the record because she's hotter than Delilah
Kipruto vs El Bakkali
Who you got?
I never ran hurdles so it's too hard to watch. Can't really tell who's winning til the last turn. Can't tell what pace they're on til they're almost done.

Kipruto gets my vote.
I think this is incorrect in some respects. I bet T Cheruiyot could run 47. He ran 1:43low unrabbited and is a speed guy with some 800 background. E Manangoi could probably run 46 (not in the final but yeah). Makhloufi could run a very good 400, I don't think he fears the finish of Lewandowski. Engels is another speedy guy, I don't think he'd have trouble hitting 47 high/48 low in a 400.
So is Lewandowski really that unique or is it just that the Europeans he happens to be racing or more endurance-based (Ingrebridsten, the Brits etc.) guys who are better suited for the 3000 than the 800?
