Spain's best chance for a medal so Spain made quite a fuss. Also Ortega is a nice guy much liked in Spain and people suffered with him watching him interviewed on tv yesterday (a well done, tactful interview given the circumstance).

Update, Ortega has now been awarded the bronze. They are also letting the original 3rd place keep his bronze. So they both are now co-bronze medalist

Bad precedent (to the extent its even a precedent).

Medals mean something when won on the track not awarded on a technicality.
