US really dominating the placing table. They have the most placers 1st through 8th except for 3rd place. But only by 1 there.

Sorry, GBR has one more 4th place finisher.

Based on slow sprint times across the board, a high number of dropouts, and this weird situation (assuming it is some type of injury), I think it’s safe to say it was a terrible idea to have the Championships so late in the season. Most athletes peaked for the DL finals (a month ago!) Its hard to compete at your best this deep into a season. But seeing as how the World Champs and next World Cup are both in Qatar, I think it’s safe to say a lot of money was paid by the Qatari government.
Its absurd to hold the meet this late in the year. Seems like every event is missing the best athletes, so it doesn't really even feel like a WC.

No one cares.

Nope. Nobody cares. Sorry.

Impressive and IMO ill-advised PR for Schweizer
She has 3 days to recover for the final so I think she'll be fine. I also think it'll be good for her confidence in the final to have gone sub-15 for the first time and by such a big margin.

Agree to disagree.

Jonathan Gault just got a mention on the PA system in doha. Announcer said, "Sweizer was the 7th fastest American in heat #1. Thanks to Jonathan Gault of LetsRun.com for that stat."
Little do they know I"m feeding him the stats (joking- Jon came up with it independently as well).
It seems that Jon is feeding them false stats though! Schweizer was the fastest American in heat #1. ;)
There have been actually more "full strength" competitions than I expected. 400 and 110 Hurdles, Men's 100, Women's 100, Women's 800 (at least in terms of non-46XY) competitors, and the men's pole vault competition was really outstanding. The women's 200 was certainly off, but I think that has been the exception more than the rule.
The distance races have been good too, even if that is in part because a ton of runners sat out portions of this season.

GOOOOOOO GATORS! What an insane season he’s had. Hopefully he gets some good rest now
I’m happy for Shubenkov, I thought he was in the road to another sub 13 season with his 13.12 earlier in the year, but I believe he was injured when McLeod tripped him up (?) and he had to build himself back up.
I don’t know what the deal with McLeod is, this is the third interference this year (the aforementioned Shubenkov incident, another with Xie, and now Ortega). I don’t think it’s intentional but he needs to fix it
Also, Sprintgeezer, this may be a dumb question but do you think the turn might be slow on the track for some reason?
I haven’t seen anything to suggest that, why do you have that impression?
Having said that, it does not appear to be particularly “fast”, like maybe Brussels.
Only a few superstars with that super SE this year, though. If the turn is slowing, it may be because athletes know their speed, and know how much they need to leave for the straight.
Guys like ADG and Lyles, even Guliyev, all have great 200m SE, and none rocked that turn.
Thanks for responding. After posting I realized I based the statement largely on the fact that I’m still surprised by how slow Lyles ran, forgetting that Dina just ran an insane time. Just the 200 being the 200
To add to my post above, I’m also happy for PML , it seems like it’s been a while since he’s run so well (though I guess he beat Shubenkov at least once last year). Really sucks for Ortega
Really bummed Norman didn't make the final. Happy Kirani James is back.
No, I'm not paying attention to that twitter address. Here on the website it was reported by rojo on the weekend that she was doing the 5, not the 15. She herself said after the 10 that her coach wanted her in the 5, but she wanted to go in the 15. Subsequently, there was silence.
Sorry to butt in, but can anyone post the live streaming link again? Went through the threads but couldn't find it. Thanks in advance. ??
It's annoying to listen to Logan go on and on all the time and no Cram but it works.
Another 90 min until 1500m heats.. damn this decathlon and hepathlon taking ages
