Yeah, if they don't speed up soon, there won't be any time qualifiers from this heat.

Why are the Italian uniforms blue?
Same reason why the Netherlands kit is orange...because they have always done it that way!
Jonathan Gault just got a mention on the PA system in doha. Announcer said, "Sweizer was the 7th fastest American in heat #1. Thanks to Jonathan Gault of LetsRun.com for that stat."
Little do they know I"m feeding him the stats (joking- Jon came up with it independently as well).

Wouldn't it be better to run a huge PR in the Final? Or is it a carpe diem thing? She does not have a shot at a medal (esp. now) so why not make this your race?
If Jerry didnt want her to run that fast, she wouldn't have run that fast.
Not sure how that answers the question posed....."Wouldn't it be better to run a huge PR in the Final?"

She did it as a passive-aggressive move to get back at Jerry for underracing. At least she won't be empty-handed like Courtney was. I like her pluck.
We have some world class idiots on here. The whole reason she's even able to drop a 14:52 in the heats in October is because she's under raced. You guys just think racing is the only way to get fit for some reason. So. Freaking. Stupid.

Purrier and Schweizer up next in 5K, 1st Heat. (Schneider in 2nd). For sure a disadvantage as thay take Top 5 in each of the 2 heats and next 5 fastest. Obvious but bears repeating - 2nd heat Women have a distinct upper hand knowing the exact time they have to run in order to move on to Finals.
How many times do experts say that and how many times the girls on a the cusp don’t dictate terms and fail
Like a said. 3.11.89 first km, why aren’t Schneider, Moller, and Duncan out by 50 metres daring the big six will go with them. Don’t die wondering

Maybe because that's a stupid question. OF COURSE it would be better to PR in the final, but this is still pretty good too. What planet are you on?

No love for MIZ! on the LetsRun message board :(
Schneider moving up at 3K. Will need to be Top 5 to advance. Wont be easy.
9 women still in it with 3 laps to go. Rachael off the back out of it.
Paula just said "fartlek."
Probably a signal of some sort to one of her old Finnish boyfriends
Purrier got in as the last time qualifier.
Who talked Jess Judd out of the 800/1500? This is not her distance.

Wow you sure are grumpy this morning! Over here in the States we have a thing called "tongue-in-cheek"- look it up. Track is running around in circles for entertainment, not saving children in a flood or fire.

Yea running a PR in the final is ideal, but you can't run a PR in the final if you don't qualify. Too many athletes make this mistake in qualifying rounds trying to conserve energy and don't end up making it to the finals. Priority number 1 is get the big Q. Just because you're in the big Q position with 400 or even 200 to go doesn't mean you're going to finish in that spot.
My PR's are nowhere near Olympic or world caliber, but I always made finals races at conference meets and placed well despite coming into those meets ranked 15-20th on the performance lists because I understood this concept. I've run more PR's in qualifying rounds than I have in fast invitational races.

They do wear it for a similar reason that the Netherlands wears orange but it's not just because they have always done it.
They wear it in honor of the the House of Savoy who unified Italy in 1861. They had a blue flag and military officers wore blue sashes or scarves.

This is LetsRun please leave your facts and knowledge at the proverbial door. We want conjecture, baseless accusations, and flat out rubbish.
Super disappointing race for Schneider, I had high hopes for her coming into the race. Perhaps she's someone who would benefit from being in a more elite training group? Who are her current training partners?

Purrier is currently the second to last time qualifier, but her time 15:08.82 is pretty fast for heats. It could be enough for the final.
Not if Duncan runs a big pb
Duncan was hardly the one to worry about displacing Purrier.
Second heat was much harder. The slower runners should have known that they would have to make it more evenly paced and that Koko and the Africans wouldn't care to more than jog for the first 3k. With 9:25 at 3k it was coming down to a fast last k 2:41-42 which is fairly brutal. And another 21 yo Ethiopian hardly anyone has heard about can keep up with such pace..
