There is little doubt in my mind that the winning woman will be Caroline Kipkirui , 25yo and ranked two. More in a minute.
Caroline has run three marathons, at ages 18 and 19. Her PB for the half was set last year at RAK, third in 65.07, passing the ten mile mark in 49.29, fastest in the world in 2018. She won in Prague in April, 65.44, the same weekend that Hassan won in a slower time in Berlin and Ruth C. won in a quicker time in Istanbul. On that Saturday, she beat Salpeter by 25 sec with a full minute and a half back to third. Here is my profile from my Prague half thread:
Second among the women should be Caroline Chepkoech Kipkirui, who is ranked 4 as a road runner and 7 over 5000m on the track. Her track record includes a great 4th in the Zurich Diamond League close behind Obiri, Hassan, and Teferi. Those three were also among the top 4 in the amazing finish at Rabat. In the first four months of last year before the Diamond League season started, Kipkirui ran 2nd in Houston, 3rd at RAK, and second here in Prague. Caroline turns 25 in May.
