Yeah, I didn't watch the entire thing, so I'm not sure if all the little details were as smooth as Kipchoge's 2:01 last year. Did Bekele have to fetch his own drinks, or did he have someone holding them up like kipchoge's race last year? Things like that could have helped. But it sounds like he ran a smart race, in letting some guys go with their insane surges, then reeling them back in later on, etc.
Kipchoge had the advantage of "running" a 2:00.25 previously, so he truly believed and knew he could do it. Now Bekele knows he can.. it's just a matter of the right day with the right fitness. I sure hope he goes for it, rather than running the Olympics. It would be the perfect chance.. get some of his training buddies to help pace, no Kipchoge at Berlin 2020 (potentially), and hopefully find another 5~10seconds.
