Right.
Paul Chelimo is an “American”.
African American . African ethnicity but American passport.
Trump is a European American. European ethnicity (half German half Scottish?) but american by passport.
I suspect the Bro Jos are European Americans too.
The natives are the only Americans who do no require a prefix or inverted commas.
This is history 101 come on.
i wouldn't call him african american. that term is typically used to for black descendents of american slaves
should have said descendants of black american slaves
Letsrun just generally tends to underestimate the power of peaking. They act like Manzano, Simpson, Centro, etc. are just luckboxes. Chelimo is saying “I have been structuring my training to peak for the final, and I think I nailed it.”
Meanwhile, letsrun always adores the time trial heroes like Solinsky, Ritz, Webb, Hall, Wheating, etc. Chelimo is on another level. He will crush.

Noah Lyles is an American.
Paul Chelimo is an African (who lives in America).
No one requires a prefix. If you are an American citizen, you are an American. Paul Chelimo is an American.
Yesterday online it looked like he was 50/1 to win the final. Not a bad offer!

You failed. They are Asian Americans. There are no indigenous Americans.

But we need international borders because they give us an identity and a flag to wave and something to cheer about when we win and something to whine about when we don't.

45 years old and I never heard the word “luckbox.”
Thank you, LetsRun.
Chelimo has more contact with other runners than any runner I’ve even seen. He’s constantly looking around, playing with his face, or doing some other weird stuff. Yesterday, sure enough he ended the race with one shoe on and ran out of his lane at a huge angle in the last ten meters. He has almost lost an Olympic medal due to this. He has also been disqualified on several occasions. He has grabbed guys in the last 50 meters, swung widely from his lane, etc.
I put him at a 50 percent chance of a dq, falling over, running on the infield, or losing a shoe,
That question should not have been asked to an athlete of Paul Chelimo caliber. Really whose your favorite in the final? Eeeerrrr, rrraammm....Humpty Dumpty!
Losing a shoe yesterday had nothing to do with him moving around. He was tucked and running in a space when he was stepped on from behind. With about 200 to go he was boxed and people were clearly slowing in front of him so he found an out and jumped out to get clear and move up. He ran as clean a race as he could.

Actually, I think it's the general LRC community that does not like him because he's taking spots away from white skinned American born runners. Not necessarily the Brojos. I think the Brojos like him.
Agreed about the Brojos. Was trying to be inflammatory.
I think it’s honestly 90/10 for Chelimo with an extremely vocal Klan of morans making a lot of noise about “muh natural born Muricans.”
Prolly the same folks who hate the NOP... but love BTC... but hate Nike for its “muh influence” in track... but love that track exists at all... but still hate Paul Chelimo... but love Lopez Lomong... cuz fvck consistency
I think you thought you were saying something profound here. If you love Lomong and BTC and hate Chelimo then that's consistency.
With that said, I LOVE Paul Chelimo, Lopez Lomong, BTC, and I guess I appreciate Nike for allowing these groups to compete for a living.

This x1000. I've always loved Chelimo, his enthusiasm is wonderful but this takes it to a new level. Wow, what a mic drop, I'll be rooting for ya Paul! Fuggin hilarious, the dude can flat out entertain.
PAUL CHELIMO!

Obviously, then, you mean the Solutreans?
an athlete who wants be "believed in" should be consistently good. I believe in Chelimo as Schrödinger believes in his cat.

The Lomong versus Chelimo “couplet” is in reference to xenophobes hating Africans taking “good hard working Americans’” berths. Lotta people see Lomong’s story as inspiring while somehow regarding Chelimo’s as opportunistic, or whatever. I suppose it boils down to the manner in which people see dues being paid.
Maybe a flawed delivery, but try to keep up.
Great interview and heat, Paulie C!
I believe the correct term is "American Badass."
