Snowflakes I assume.
I have run in the same temperature a lot more miles.

How about have the Lamine Diack / Seb Coe IAAF clan all complete the Doha Marathon course or else face prison time for corruption charges?

A big nothingburger, apparently.

Letsrun does it again! Rojo saves the WC marathon!
The "just run slower" and night run arguments are stupid. Let's be real people..conditions will never be ideal for a marathon in Doha..
Everyone knew that it would be hot.
Snowflakes that were going to cry about it didn't need to go.
Also, after the cold weather at Boston, Yuki and Des Linden were lauded for their heroic efforts, and the runners that dropped were lambasted.
And,(not sure why this is the worst part, but...) with the race at midnight, how many spectators were there ever going to be?
I'm thrilled that this dumb sport you all live for is being ruined by the weather in a hot part of the world, which is being influenced by the stupid actions of the very politicians you collectively adore.
Cut off your nose to spite your face!
Distance running, it was good knowing you.
Dreadful pollution levels too
So you are saying there is a chance of Yuki Kawauchi to win the race since all pros will going to blow out again like Boston Marathon?
What would Greta Thunberg do? Who cares.
So adapt to it. Championships should not have been in Doha. Olympics should not be in sh*th*le Paris, either.
It should be canceled permanently because nobody considers it the world championship of marathon running. It's just a marathon run at the world championships of track, in the ever-failing mini-olympics model.
Is Kipchoge gonna be in it?
The lawsuit they should be fearing is the one for taking bribes to host the World Athletics Championships in a country which doesn't care about athletics, has questionable human rights and is completely the wrong climate for it.
Serves the IAAF right for handing off World Championships to Sh*TH**L human rights violating countries. Who thought it was a good idea to put worlds on in this SH*(& H8*&(*&. of a region.
SHAME ? ? SHAME.
I was thinking the same! I wonder if all their slaves come out at night to clean the streets during the WC? My concern is all the US elites are sitting at altitude in Switzerland, wonder how much the change in environment will play on their races.

Huh...tough guy, eh? I suppose humans will "adapt to" the hotter weather, it just won't be us humans. Somewhere a couple of hundred years from now our descendants will have adapted over generations to the hotter climate.
Whether they can grow gills behind their ears and adapt to living in the water that will flood most major cities is another story. You might want to start caring about what Greta Thunberg would do. Unlike your flippant and ignorant comments, her ideas would make a positive difference.

The article claims they will decide one hour before the race. Is this a joke? The IAAF is shocked it's going to be hot in Doha?
They clearly are fearing a lawsuit.
The race should be run or it should never have been scheduled for Doha.

The championships should have never been held in Qatar. This is what corruptions in organizations get you however. With the heat and long season, I suspect and expect sub-par performances will be the norm.
I lived in Doha for 7 years and I can say, definitively, that the statistics about the temperatures they put forth when they bid for the championships were completely false. This is a country where it's illegal for labor workers to work when it's above 50 degrees, so, miraculously, it would always hover at 49 or 50 in summer months so that progress never stopped. The race will be unbearably hot and it will be a complete and utter disaster. As an example while training there during September, I could lose several pounds running from 4:30-5:30 before the sun even came up and that would be at a pace SIGNIFICANTLY slower than an easy run anywhere else I've ever run in the world. It was very difficult to run farther than an hour outside until at least early October. It is hard to even explain what it feels like running in "perceived temeratures" above 110. IF they run the race, I can't imagine a man running faster than 2:16-18 or a woman running faster than 2:32-34. It will be a fiasco.
It’ll be fun watching the Batam Death March.
(Did I spell that correct?)
Som many people skip the WC marathon that making it a half could actually bring a lot more long-distance talent as a half is less impactful on a runners training cycle. If we could see Kamworor, Kipchoge, Farah, and Rupp all duking it out for a half marathon championship race that would be amazing. Plus the 10k/Half double is way more do-able than 10k/Marathon.
