He has a good point. While it's true there's nothing to scoff at a USA title, the goal of all these runners is the global championships. I could be wrong though. Maybe some of these guys do not want to compete at the World Championships. But I doubt it. The point is this: it is a failure to not make the World Championships when you place in the top 3. You can incorrectly blame IAAF for stricter rules, but it's on the coach and athletes to follow the rules. As it stands, it's a fact to say, they failed in qualifying for the world champs.
Anyone who says that winning a national title, for an athlete already going to worlds no less, is moot....has no good point.
